infected tooth and flying

I need some help. I am supposed to leave on the evening of April 5th. I had 2 root canals today and still in a bit of pain. I have heard that it is very dangerous to fly with an infected tooth. Anybody know about this issue?

There's a pretty good thread on this exact question from a few months ago.

The biggest problem with a root canal and air travel will be your increased sensitivity to air pressure changes. If you do have an infection, you should contact your dentist/endodontist as soon as possible. Any post-op infection should be treated.

I can say as a F/A any kind of tooth pain is multiplied when flying, be sure to check with your Dentist before going to the airport.

Hope your travels are safe and comfortable. The suggestions in the other thread are pretty good. It will also help if you stay hydrated, lay off the caffeine and don't drink cold drinks.

Travelling after a root canal should be fine as long as the tooth was not infected (or that any infection was controlled prior to the flight).

I on the other hand had a 10 hour flight two days prior to a root canal (not planned). It was painful.. specially toward the last couple of hours, but it was not a killer pain. Take plenty of pain medication on board. My tooth stared acting up while on holidays...
