For the most part, pets impose a hell of a lot less than a vast majority of young children. No question about it. I'm sick to death of arrogant parents who think they can get away with anything just because they have children or think their kids can get away with anything just because they ARE children. People in this country have to grow out of this sick and twisted child-fetish they seem to have. It's perverse. :td: |

He made the decision to have children, why do I have to adjust my behaviour because of it? Only the mother and father should have to endure the consequences of their actions, noone else. Anyway, I'm getting a tad off-topic here.... :o |
We have been fortunate enough to have 5 children, 3 grandchildren, 2 dogs and 2 cats in the past 20 some years :D . I make allowances for my children, grandchildren and pets that the stranger who does not know how special they are will not want to share in.
Just because I honestly think that my kids, grandkids and pets are near perfect and cute, does not mean the rest of the world shares my sentiments. On the other hand I have found my children and grandchildren to be more behaved, seasoned travelers than a lot of adults I have encountered. But that does not mean that most adults are rude and ill-mannered when traveling. :D |

I will stay out of the ongoing debate since I have no pets or children, but I think this has strayed a bit from the original complaint as I interpreted it, which is that the hotel employee working in the restaurant handled, touched, held the dog, and then proceeded to handle food. Please correct me if I misinterpreted this.

Personally, there are some adults in this world that bother and annoy me more than unruly children or pets that are not under the control of their owner(s) — but that is another story altogether.
In fact, there is one thing to which I will agree — with certain exceptions, unruly children and uncontrolled pets are usually the result of inconsiderate adults. Neither the children nor the animals should be at fault. ---------------------------------- Although the incident occurred in a Hampton Inn in Fort Worth, this topic is more of a general nature and should be shared with FlyerTalk members who are not Hilton HHonors members. This is why the new home for this thread is now the TravelBuzz! forum. Please continue to debate — in a civil manner — the concept of pets in a hotel environment. Thank you. If the dog in the breakfast area was a service dog, it would have been with its owner, not with the hotel employee.
Service animals aside, I never want to see a dog or any other animal for that matter in a restaurant that I'm about to pay money to eat in. I don't much care for screaming children either but I do try my best to be tolerant of some people's bad parenting skills. |

Children are, for the most part, way more unsanitary than dogs. Everything I mentioned earlier I've witnessed and much more. They really seem to have no problem at all in sneezing all over the breakfast buffet, spreading their filth everywhere, just generally being a health hazard (not even mentioning the myriad annoying things they do). Remember: we all share the same anatomy/physiology so it's easier to contract something infectious from a child than from a dog. How would you like to bite into a muffin and find it's soggy with saliva or pick up an apple from the fruit bowl and discover a booger on it? And why be tolerant to some moron's poor parenting? Slap them. People like that should have been made to take a test before being allowed to reproduce. There are a lot of folks who are either unwilling or unable to control their brood, they should be forceably sterilised. It'd benefit the existing child(ren) and benefit society as a whole. Cheers |

What other options to do i have. I travel to fort worth at least 3 times a month for business. Does anyone have another hotels for refer? I will never stay at this property again Can't comment about hotels in Ft. Worth, but if you ever make it to L.A., stay far away from the Sofitel. I see dogs there all the time. Everything from the small, little dogs that people carry around to the largest breeds (100+ pounds). Of course, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. |

Cheers You've made it clear you don't have any children of your own. Good choice. |

But I agree that things would be different if the dog was brought into an eating area and was being handled by the service staff.
