There is a current article of the German SPIEGEL ONLINE about the Boeing 737 of Air Zimbabwe that flew from DXB to HRE for just one passenger...

(sorry, German only)

Gosh those are some empty flights. Nothing that extreme, though for awhile UA had a BUF-ROC-IAD flight that was a full jet (like a DC-9 I guess, I am not completely up on plane models), with 8 people other than myself. After the 15 min. flight BUF to ROC, it picked up maybe 8 more and then headed on to IAD.
This was odd, because usually we get a prop plane on that leg, or even the small 7 row twin engine planes. I believe this occurred in May 2000. Certainly no plane on that route on UA to my knowledge has been a full jet plane (US Air flyes the larger prop planes to DCA, but SW flies jets from BUF to BWI)

I was on UA 882 NRT-ORD in late Jan 2000, and the only passenger in the upper deck. There were a few other passengers in downstairs C, but not more than 4 or 5 IIRC.

3 PAX: STL-CLT on good ole TWA
Was on the last flight of the night from STL to CLT, a year or so before the demise of TWA. Summertime thunderstorms had delayed the previous flight, and most of the passengers booked on my flight thought they'd be smart and try and rebook on the earlier, delayed flight. As I had my free upgrade confirmed for the later flight, I stuck with it. The earlier flight left 10 minutes before mine, 95% full. Unfortunately for TW, they needed both planes in CLT for the next morning return flights, so they flew my and two PAX in Y on the later (albeit by 10 minutes) flight.
The FAs invited the Y PAX up to F, and then they sat down with the 3 of us and kept the booze flowing. Great flight.

Also out of BUF, right after thanksgiving in 2003 (or 2002?) on the USAir commuter to ALB it was just me. 1 passenger and the crew of 3. They were still doing the 'random screenings' of passengers at the time and so I had a gate screening by 4 agents laughing and apologizing to me.

Last year, on Christmas Eve, my wife and I were the only two passengers in F on an AA Super 80 from RSW to ORD. The Y cabin had about 15 passengers total. We had our own flight attendant, who made sure our drinks were replenished promptly, and even served us mixed drinks that he had "invented." The only bummer is that eventually I had to stop drinking as I had a rent a car that I needed to drive that night.

Not quite as empty as some others mentioned here, but I was on a Narita to Denpasar flight (JAL) in early December 2002 with 44 passengers on a 747--and 14 of us were going to the same wedding!

only one on a 757
Two years ago I was the only flyer on a 757 BWI-DTW
There was a delayed earlier flight, which everyone was put on. I was running late, the plane had to be in DTW for the next morning, so my own private NW 757.
The pilot gave me a personalized weather report for DTW on the descent!
Felt bad for the attendants at the back of the plane, FAA regs said they had to stay back there for the flight.

Lax - Hkg -
The day Gulf War 1 started..... CX747 from LAX/HKG - I was offered any seat on the aircraft..... Great service and as much cavier as i wanted
I had paid full first..... that's life..... Sat in the jumpseat for landing at the old airport with a landside approach - always wondered how they made that turn and altitude drop without touching the laundry on the roof tops! Nothing short of fantastic!
