To the people who own or use the bose queit comfort 2-
Would you recommend the produce?
Does it elimiate all sound?
Does it eliminate the sound of other people talking?
Is it worth it?
Does it really work ?
And what is it really good for?
Thanks

I highly recommend a search, perhaps on QC2, in the Travel Technology forum, where this has been discussed quite a bit, especially the difference between the original and the new ones.
I have the original, and here are my quick comments:
Would you recommend the produce? Yes, if you travel a lot.
Does it elimiate all sound? They only work with low, continuous noises like engine or train rumble
Does it eliminate the sound of other people talking? No, they don't cancel this kind of noise. Since they're somewhat substantial and totally surround your ears, they do deaden some noise, but don't cancel this kind of noise.
Is it worth it? I think so.
Does it really work ? Yes, but only for specific sounds.
And what is it really good for? I find that I work and can concentrate better when I'm wearing them. I also find that I feel better/more rested when I arrive at my destination. They're a nice way to insulate yourself from the world, even if they don't cancel out all noise.

I agree with Doppy. I have used the original QC1 for several years, and recently bought the QC2s. Very happy with their performance. They work as advertised. For me. they make listening to music or watching a movie much more pleasant in the loud interior environment of an aiplane moving 500+ mph.
Are they overpriced? Certainly. Everything BOSE is overpriced. But so are lots of things in life, and specifically, in the world of frequent travel. Hotel rooms, fancy restaurants, wine, you name it. For most frequent travelers, $300 is nothing, especially in electronics. Many people now carry personal DVD players or laptops.
BOSE has a 30 day return policy - why not try them and see if you like them?
Alternatively, AA provides them for use on widebody international flights in Business and First - you could sample them on an AA flight.

I agree with the previous 2 posters. I have QC2s and they work remarkably well. As stated above, they do not cancel out all sounds, but they are excellent for eliminating engine noise and related travel noise. And you you connect them to an iPod and turn the sound way up, you won't hear anyone talking.

I often just wear the headphones and don't plug them into anything. But when you do, you can hear the subtleties of music or of a movie even at low volumes.
With regular headphones, you've got to turn the volume way up to hear whatever you want to hear.

I've become so used to using them with an iPod at low to moderate volume that I can imagine I'm at home with light music on in the background. Unfortunately, I'm sitting in a horribly uncomfortable kitchen chair with my knees against the wall...
They really help me "tune out" the airplane environment (and if the seats were more comfortable, I could forget completely).Like others have mentioned, they don't tune out all sound, but they do kill almost all the low engine noise. With tunes turned up even a little bit, you can't hear anything, and in fact, the flight attendants can scare the hell out of you by tapping you on the shoulder unexpectedly.
You won't be disappointed with the QC2 (which sound a little better, and fold a LOT smaller) than the QC1's (I've owned both). And the case for the QC2 holds an iPod nicely right in the center...
Steve
