I agree with Doppy. I have used the original QC1 for several years, and recently bought the QC2s. Very happy with their performance. They work as advertised. For me. they make listening to music or watching a movie much more pleasant in the loud interior environment of an aiplane moving 500+ mph.

Are they overpriced? Certainly. Everything BOSE is overpriced. But so are lots of things in life, and specifically, in the world of frequent travel. Hotel rooms, fancy restaurants, wine, you name it. For most frequent travelers, $300 is nothing, especially in electronics. Many people now carry personal DVD players or laptops.

BOSE has a 30 day return policy - why not try them and see if you like them?

Alternatively, AA provides them for use on widebody international flights in Business and First - you could sample them on an AA flight.
