Does anyone know of a website that will list all the direct flights from a specific airport, regardless of carrier?
Say I want to know all of the destinations within an hour of LAS or ORD, it would list the destination cities, flight times and carriers offering direct, non-stop service?
Thanks.

The only way I've managed to do this (relatively) simply is by looking at the airport's own website, which often lists all flights departing/arriving on the day along with on-time information. For a big airport like ORD, this may be really unwieldy, but for my home airport of PHL it is reasonably useful.Originally Posted by jasonheard

Most of the major booking sites such as www.travelocity.com etc have this feature. Go to advanced options, extra features or whatever they call it and select "0" connections. FWIW I believe it should be called non-stop, not direct.

Good advice, but an even better point here!Originally Posted by MisterNice

Assuming you mean not having to stop, or change planes, non-stop is the way to look at things.
For example, I was seated today on a NW flight from VPS-MEM-STL. The flight was a "direct" to, I think, to Milwaukee. My seat mate, whose final destination was in fact Milwaukee, made some comment about whether he should deplane in Memphis to get some grub. I said, "You might as well plan on it, since you'll be changing planes anyway." He goes, "Huh?" Not to be a smart aleck, I just said that 9 out of 10 times, this plane ENDS in Memphis, and you'll probably have to change planes, I don't care what they said in the boarding announcement. He goes, OK, but it is listed as a direct flight, just a stop in Memphis. I said, I know, but usually you do have to change planes.
(Please understand, I was in NO WAY trying to be some kind of know-it-all. It's just that I've seen this repeatedly on this route, and on others by other airlines, not just Northwest...it's deceptive, to my way of thinking, because how are you gonna know when a "direct" flight is gonna turn out to be a "connecting" flight?)
Guess who left the plane with me tonight? ...Nope, not just my seat mate....*Everyone* did!!

i hate the word "direct"...flights should should be catagorized as non stop, x stops, or connection[s]. wn makes it clear on their web site...it seems to me that most others are less forthcoming re the details...rat fink.

I agree and I call it a friggin scam. On "direct" flights with a stop you get scammed (1) getting less ff miles (not obvious), and (2) spending more time in travel (usually obvious).Originally Posted by clacko

The worst is that friends / relatives always use the terms synonymously. I tell them that I had a WN direct flight from HOU to FLL, so they say it must have been a lot faster than DL connecting in ATL. When I tell them that the stops in MCO and TPA made it about even, they look at me cross-eyed. For clarity's sake, I always refer to non-stop flights as non-stop, and I mention where the stop is whenever talking about a direct flight.Originally Posted by MisterNice

I also agree -- when I'm in a hurry I sometimes miss this.. it's like..Oh..I see...it's "direct" but there are 4 direct flights to get from a to b! "Non Stop, 1 Stop, etc" is much more helpful.

So they count the ff miles "as the crow flies" as opposed to the miles for each stop? I never really noticed but now I'll start paying attention!Originally Posted by MisterNice

Yep. see, you were nicely scammed. FWIW it is called the "great circle" distance, ie the minimum distance as measured on a smooth globe. It can really matter for those people trying to get to the next higher elite level late in the year. FWIW I missed getting Year Five in the fabled Continental NonePass(tm) Infinite Elite Program many years ago because if it. I ended the year with something like 49,912 miles rather than what I thought was to be 50,112 miles or whatever (50,000 mi was the top elite leve then and if you did it 5 years in a row, you got it grandfathered for lifel).Originally Posted by SpottyDog

(3) Seat Selection, can only select seats that are available on both legs of the "direct" flight....real pain sometimes.
