The worst is that friends / relatives always use the terms synonymously. I tell them that I had a WN direct flight from HOU to FLL, so they say it must have been a lot faster than DL connecting in ATL. When I tell them that the stops in MCO and TPA made it about even, they look at me cross-eyed. For clarity's sake, I always refer to non-stop flights as non-stop, and I mention where the stop is whenever talking about a direct flight.
