Hey! I caught one!

Know that my geography is the worst - is W. Virgina a separate state? - but I see a discrepancy here ...

LOL! Yes, West Virginia is an actual state. However, the Florida Keys are not. But, if you have ever lived there, you would swear you were not only in a different state, but a different country

Not surprising given the crowd here that my list feels slightly anemic. But here goes!

Australia
Austria
Belgium
Canada
China
Denmark
England
Finland
France
Germany
Ireland
Italy
Japan
Lichtenstein
Mexico
Netherlands
New Zealand
Poland
Portugal
Scotland
Singapore
South Africa
Spain
Sweden
Switzerland
Thailand
Turkey
USA

I've got a RTW coming up soon but no new countries on the list currently. Africa is creeping up my interest list, though.

I agree - hated South Beach, Daytona Bch was so so, but I loved the Keys!

But, tazi, your explanation doesn't justify how Cozumel become an independent state

(in no particular order ... )

Mexico
Canada
England
France
Czech Republic
Germany
Scotland
Austria
Singapore

Not much, I know.

And I don't want to hear anything about Scotland not being part of the U.K. The locals will argue you to death on the subject.

I was there about 22 years ago...wasn't it independent then??? Sure felt like it! If you stayed on the north end of the island, the hotels didn't have fresh water in the bathrooms...nice running salt water.

Tazi .. well Mississippi always feels like a different country to me but it does not appear to be so on most maps.

I am interested to learn from your list that YAP is now apparently an independent country?

Oops. I saw your post above with YAP in it, but see on closer look it was quoting birdstrike. Apologies. Just smiled to see it claimed as a "country" no matter who posted it.

(Hey, does Opryland count. Anyone know? )

Cuba! That's a rare one. How did you do that without getting into trouble?

Rare? I understand it is not illegal for a US citizen to VISIT Cuba. You are however not offically able to spend MONEY there AFAIK. (And of course Cuba refuses to accept ANY USA issiued credit card. Cash they have no objections whatever to.) Naturally they do not stamp your passport unless you very foolishly request it.

I know I flew in easily from Merida, in the Yucatan, which offers Havana hotel and flight packes for $250 or whatever, and Canada has offered frequent direct flights there for a decade or so which are well patronised. I noticed last month in Miami a huge UA logo sign in United terminal area pointing to "Miami Charter Flights".
