Lyon: Hotel recommendations

I need to find a hotel for a colleague in Lyon France quickly. Anyone have a suggestion for a good to better hotel that isn't part of a major. The Hiltons, etc are all booked out due to conferences. Something locally owned and managed is what I'm hoping will still be available.

Hotel name and number would be appreciated.

Thanks...

Cour des Loges

Quoth Expedia:

"This intimate hotel is a collection of four Renaissance buildings two blocks east of the Sane in the heart of Vieux Lyon (the Old Quarter)."

I agonized between Cour des Loges and La Tour Rose for a visit last September. I was happy with my choice of La Tour Rose; each room is decorated in fabric from a different silk house in Lyon. They have a superb restaurant, and I had a marvelous meal. Also, they left freshly baked madeleines in my room at night.

I walked into Cour des Loges, which is about 2-3 blocks from La Tour Rose. It has an ultra trendy lobby, which opens immediately into the restaurant area. Either of these are strong choices.

Check your Michelin red guide for Lyon - you'll find both of these hotels listed.

I agonized as well. I ended up sleeping at Cour des Loges and dining at La Tour Rose. I both slept and ate well. What a lovely neighborhood. Be sure to stroll down to the river.

Guys,

The information is for a younger colleague travelling here on short notice, hand carrying a few needed components for a conference. I'll know first thing tomorrow if she's made it ok and if the information was useful.

Thanks again...

stayed here 10 years ago - very nice clean rooms not four seasons but with decent bathrooms and quiet central location.

many visiting actors stay here.

Cour des Loges is wonderful but not particularly close to the main conference center. Still, if your colleague can afford it, it's a fantastic hotel and worth the taxi ride.

There are dozens of travel websites, but Flyertalk is the only one that I can get direct info about a hotel from someone who I trust who has stayed there.

O.K., O.K., O.K., I know, "There are dozens of travel websites.." - I was under the impression that michswiss needed a hotel room (to book), no only an opinion.
He would have booked Hilton for his friend/colleague, could not .. Hilton is a nice hotel, but in a somewhat remote location next to Interpol, so any nice hotel would be fine/adequate. In such a situation, I take any 4-star hotel (for $/Euro 150 more or less) I can get through hrs.com or priceline.com.
BTW, for an opinion, Michelin and/or Gault-Millau are fine sources ...
