In response to this:
"This (sic) data will be limited to name, address, telephone number and date of birth of the passenger. That is the only info Delt or any airline will provide. "
This is already on my passport (ex phone # but I'm never home to answer it) so what's the big deal?
PS If Citibank doesn't want me, will United?

You don't have to get permission to travel.
Folks here have been complaining for the past year and a half about the security procedures and how they spend too much time on those who (they think) don't pose a threat. Well, here's a system that promises to use available public data to reduce the inconvenience experienced by those who do pose little threat while concentrating the screening resources on those who pose a greater risk. Seems like this is exactly what people here have been asking for since the air transportion system started up again on 9/13/01.

How is this going to help keep a terrorist from doing harm? The terrorist is going to carefully create false papers. The "system" may flag him or her but so what? Our terrorist gets special searches and scrutiny and is on his/her way.
What we've done is put in a virtual border that will catch ordinary citizens in the guise of catching terrorists, just like we gave up all banking privacy in the guise of catching money launderers.
