Operational Upgrades on Aloha????

I will be flying Aloha Airlines Flight Number 441 (OAK-HNL) this Sunday.

ITN.NET is showing

Cabin class: F4 A0 Y0 B0 H0 M0 T0 L0 V0 Q0 U0 Z0

Here's the deal. I have a paid F-Class Ticket for this flight. The other person I am travelling with used his UAL miles for an Award Y Ticket. We were wondering what is the procedure at Aloha for Operational Upgrades (we know that these are extremely RARE but we are just exploring our options ). Will it help that I paid for an F-Ticket or that he is a Premier Executive with UAL? Is it better if we check in earlier or later? He is willing to pay an upgrade fee if Aloha offers this like HAL does, does AQ do the same? Any other tips you might have to help him get upgraded on this carrier?

I don't have an answer for your question, but we're going to be in HNL at the same time. Where are you staying? We leave tomorrow!

Hi I love EWR.
I would call Aloha and have them link the two PNRs to show that you are travelling together. This may increase your chances. It may be good to check in a little bit early, but not more than 2 hours before flight time.
Also, it NEVER hurts to ask. Be friendly and just explain the situation and hope for an angel. I don't think your friend's PremEx status will make any difference, but the fact that you are in paid F, might.
Good luck and have a great trip

I think chances of an upgrade for your friend are very slim, Aloha regularily upgrades it's Executive Club members to first class if space permits and the cheap seats are full, but because there are so many of these members on each flight, your friends chances are IMHO, slim and none.

Thanks for the replies all!!! We figure his chances of getting an operational upgrade are slim to none, but we figured why not ask? Also thanks for the 'real' numbers Eastbay, were did u happen to get those? He might still purchase an upgrade day of travel if it is a reasonalbe price.
