12 Hour Layover in a overseas city- have you used a day rate hotel?

We are planning a round-the-world trip and there are quite a few long layovers in Asian Cities during the trip. These layovers range from six hours to fifteen hours. Unfortunately, many of the layovers are during the day.

In theory, we would tour around the city during our layover but we are old and will be too tired due to not sleeping in economy class sitting up during 12-17 hour flights. Instead, want to crash at an airport hotel. Our challenge is we are arriving in the early morning and would not be eligible for an overnight rate. What is your experience with day rates at overseas hotels? And were you able to sleep in the hotel room with the maids out in the hall and the slamming doors as people come and go during the daytime?

Can you specify what Airports these long delays are in?

Many Asian airports have Air-side hotels where you don't even need to exit the security. I know ICN has one. Rooms were small and many don't have windows, if that is an issue for you. But great for a nap, a shower and watching Korean TV.
