PE vs Coach

OK, forget my other thread (not that anyone has replied to it lol). The choice has come down to PE on Air Canada BOS-YUL-CDG or nonstop in Y on Delta BOS-CDG. There's no out of pocket cost (Ultimate Rewards points) but it's essentially
  • $2600 for regular Y on DL BOS-CDG
  • $3200 for Comfort Plus on DL BOS-CDG (in a 767 where we could snag a pair of seats in the 2-4-2)
  • $3200 for PE on AC BOS-YUL-CDG

I think nonstop trumps it. Less time traveling, no chance of missed connections, less running around. I won't sleep as well (not that I sleep well on planes to begin with) but I can suck it up for a day. As much as I want not-coach...

What do people think?

I'd do the C+ on DL.

That's what I wound up doing. The UR portal wouldn't let me pick a C+ fare because I wound up booking an AF flight on the return (we liked the schedule better) but delta.com let me just buy it when I logged in to view the reservation.

Now I just need to keep checking in and see if seats together show up in the "2" of the 2-3-2.

No idea what C+ might be, but for shorter flights non-stop trumps PE any day or night.

7 hours doesn't seem like a shorter flight to me but I agree anyway that nonstop trumps things.

C+ is Delta's Comfort Plus. It's a standard economy seat and service but more legroom.

Guessing these are walk-up fares? (Or close to it...) Part of me would want to buy the PE fare with the connection simply because I can't fathom paying $2600 R/T for Y. But if you gotta get to Paris ASAP, I probably just book it based on duration/schedule and not mess around with an unnecessary connection.

Nope, this is 3 months out. Welcome to flying to Europe in summer. Norwegian was about $800 but I don't trust them after they canceled my flight a week out last year.

Ah... We're going to Europe this summer too, but awards going over and TAP coming back through BOS. I saw those Norwegian flights but I don't trust them either. I don't know much about TAP but they seemed to offer a balance between budget and actually being a serious airline. (Serious enough to be in an alliance anyway.) Nothing fancy...five of us in coach...but they had good one-way fares if you're willing to accept a connection in LIS.

You should be able to do much better than those fares. I See Y fares on DL/AF in July closer to $700

Yeah, I booked using UR points through Chase's portal, so even though $1500 is spendy for coach my actual out of pocket was zero (aside from the $150 each for comfort plus).

Last year I was really excited for Norwegian (first time on 787) but after they canceled the flight I got a refund and was able to find the same price on Air Canada via YUL. We won the auction for PE so we were in PE on the way there. I definitely slept better in PE than I would have in coach. On the other hand, I'll be minorly uncomfortable on the nonstop flight but then I was able to use the leftover UR points for 3 nights at the Park Hyatt Vendome.

But I don't want to go in July. My friend is renting the chateau in June.
