Laundry Soap
OK, so I'm heading out to SLC late next week and plan to bring 1 or 2 change of clothes and minimum unidies/socks, as where I'm staying with friends there is access to a washer/dryer.
Would you bring your own baggie of laundry detergent, as I know a small box costs say $2.00 at the local cvs.....or would you bring a baggie enough to do 1 load of laundry. If so, how do you pack your laundry soap.
FYI, I'm flying southwest airlines from iad to slc on Friday am.
Thanks!

I keep a box of "all-in-one" laundry sheets just for travel. A few sheets in a zip-lock bag slip into an inside pocket of my carry-on, no muss no fuss. An added benefit is that they deodorize my bag a little. I haven't messed with detergent powders in years.

That's what I was wondering as well. If they'll let you use their electricity and water, why not a couple of capfuls of their detergent? If you're staying for a lengthy period of time just throw them a few bucks towards detergent costs if necessary.

True.
As one who doesn't want to bring a change of clothes for each day, I'd rather pack lightly and do laundry. They may recycle socks/undies but that's their choice. I'd rather NOT do that.......
They may use the dryer to dry their fleece vests, but when I traveled with them before, they all had changes of clothes for each of the 6 days we were in Steamboat.
I'd be happy with 2 or 3 changes of clothes for the 5 days I'll be in SLC.
BTW this is a condo 1 of the people got via vrbo....

If the laundry sheet all in one is not available,
Try the POWDER Pod sacks
If the pod gets punctured, you won't have a gloppy wet mess.

although I have only powder at home...I was thinking of perhaps quadrouple wrapping in bags, say 2 cups of detergent and putting it in my check in bag.
if you travel with detergent, how do you pack it........

Not detergent, but when I go the VRBO/AirBnB route I'll often pack some ground coffee so I don't need to hit the grocery store and buy a big bag for a day or two. I just put some into a ziploc freezer bag and throw in it my luggage either checked or carryon. Never had a problem with leakage.

The Tide Pods are the most economical solution. Put some in a Hefty or Ziploc zippered bag, maybe even double-bag it, just in case they break. Carry a couple of extra in case your friends want one.
