Drunken packing

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I'm a last-minute packer, and on occasions have gone out the night before a flight and then packed my suitcase hurriedly before going to bed.

I end up arriving at the hotel at my destination not really knowing what I remembered to bring and what I didn't.

Many years ago the boss and I were headed out to a high
level meeting at company headquarters.

He kept harping on me to not forget to bring a tie... if he
said it once he said it at least a dozen times.

I had three ties with me.

Next morning I meet the boss in the hotel lobby where I
found he was not wearing a tie... tells me his wife forgot
to pack it... sure blame your wife.

Taking advantage of the opportunity I asked him if he
wanted to borrow one... nope he was not going to borrow
one and would rather suffer the indignity of being the ONLY
one at the meeting without a tie. Ok.

He runs out at noon to purchase some cheesy tie.

Argh. I did this in January. Still cannot find my 2 I-pod players. I think I put them into something to carry them, and then threw it away, in my hectic last minute cleaning up.

I was so hoping that your story ended with you turning up in the lobby the next morning, still drunk, wearing only a tie.....

Drunken packing for the return home is just as bad, if not worse.

I had a night in Tokyo last year, where a very senior boss took me out for sushi and beers. I had to get up at 4am the next morning to get to New York, but I didn't want to appear ungrateful, so stayed out far later than I should have done and drunk too much too. When I finally arrived home I was still worried about what I might have left behind.

Not drunken packing, but hungover & sleep-deprived packing.

The important thing here is do you wind up with "gender appropriate" clothes (whatever gender that may be).

I once forgot my tie. I had an idea and told the hotel desk clerk that I had left a tie in my room on a previous visit. I asked if I could check the lost-and-found for my forgotten tie.

The desk clerk said that others had tried the same scheme before. He stated that the gift shop had an excellent selection of ties.

I still frequently wear the $40 tie I bought (same tie at Target cost $15.99).

Not drunk or Hungover packing but last minute "I do this every month so no big deal" packing did result in only black or shocking pink underwear and mainly light coloured tops on a two week business trip to a part of the world where it was not possible to buy the right size in a more appropriate colour. A lot of hand washing of the two dark tops I did have.

But I do take more care now
