Dead drunk in Italy night before flying home (which involved a cab coming at 4am which was like 2 hours later, but that's another story.)

Got back to the room and my brain was in "think it all out" mode, as in:

1. I need to pack...
2. OK...That means I need to get out my suitcase and open it...
3. Done...ok...next...shoes first...one shoe...two shoes...three shoes...four shoes...
4. Great...time for a break.
5. Next...pants...

I think it took me an hour to pack, at which point I just stayed up, but I did get home with everything (except a few brain cells.)

I did this A LOT in college when I worked for our basketball team. I'd go out the night before with my friends and throw everything together when I got home. Usually this wasn't a problem except once in PGH when I went to put my shoes outside of my door for a shine and realized I didn't have them. Spent the rest of the day walking around the city to find a pair of size 13 black dress shoes.

Vancouver to St. Louis for Canucks and Blues NHL playoffs...no underwear haha. Drunken packing at it's finest. Went to a local Kmart or whatever bought underwear and some brooms since we were going to sweep them in 4 games.

My mantra while drunk packing is from AbFAb. "Tickets, money, passport, dawnling"

Drunk or sober, I inevidably always forget 1 thing. I'm usually on the plane thinking 'hmmm, what did I forget this time'?

Dawnling?

Yea I do that quick pocket inventory. Wallet (which holds passport), cell phone (which is iPhone so it has media, and often boarding pass/ticket)...pretty much good to go. Anything else can be obtained later if necessary.

Never done the drunk packing but last minute? Guilty on almost every danged trip. I only usually fly a few times a year so I usually start making a packing list a week or so ahead of my flight but inevitably the night before I'm trying to do four loads of laundry, find my extra iPhone/iPad cables that should have been left in my carry on bag but aren't, etc. Shockingly the list has pretty much done its job since I've yet to leave something important at home. Of course saying that has doomed me to leave something at home for my trip trip in July.

Been there, done that. Now I usually try to pack and lay out my clothes for the morning before going out.

Get home, empty pockets onto bedside table, strip off and chuck all dirty clothes in travelling washing bag , set alarm, order taxi (if necessary) do ablutions and zzzzzzzz.

For the washing bag now I use one of those vacuum pack things to minimise space..

Depends on where you are going. If you are in far east / parts of SE Asia then if you are more than 5 ft and size zero you have no chance.
