First and last time I flew a charter was DTW-LAS on Sun Country DC-10, early 2000s. Thought I had scored an upgrade when I was assigned row 5. To my horror I found an all coach configuration and 3-4-3 seating, not the 2-5-2 I was used to seeing with Northwest. Thankfully it was pre-9/11 and the crew had no issue with me standing the entire flight next to the flight deck door because it was so damn uncomfortable.

If the airlines would install something like the "Cozy Suites" I wouldn't care how many they jammed in. I just don't want to be touched by strangers for extended periods, and 11-across seating ensures that the unwanted touching will be non-stop.
