You guys are being a bit hard on the OP. Sounds like a young guy having a good time. I'm surprised that the other dude would get angry about the OP's inability to chip in a few bucks toward cab fare. I mean, if I were having a good time on vacation with some hostel buddies, I'd just give the cabbie a ten or whatever and carry on, instead of picking a fight over the three bucks that someone owed me.

The last English teacher who gave the OP a passing grade is at fault.

The guy is a dick. It's cab fare. If you've been hanging out for a few days and you said you'd pay him back later, there's no need for him to be a jerk. As someone suggested, they just may have no wanted to have you around and were using this as an excuse to be rid of you.

Errr never did the OP say he will pay them back later. Considering that he has a flight on Tuesday and he is getting money on Wednesday I don't think he was planning on paying back anything.
Anyway OP is in the wrong here. If it was a cab ride home it would be one thing. However this was a cab right to go somewhere for a night out. Most people can be generous but hate to be taken advantage of.

Good thought, but I'm assuming it was the wee hours in the morning of April 2nd in Europe.
Where else would the idea of hostels be common? Australia? If that's the case, then the OP was f-ed up out of his skull at 2 or 3PM(?), which makes this thread at least 50% more awesome than I thought it was.
Tried to daydrink but ran out of money at lunch? That's truly awesome.

I assume his "buddies" just figured he'd be mooching off them the whole night. I'd have dropped his drunk *ss too.
And from the first post, my count is 3 guys and 2 girls - NOT INCLUDING OP. I'd have dumped the two other guys too!

This is the thread of the day - laughed at half of it.
OP - couldn't you have tried the "let's stop at an ATM on the way to the bar" line, and then pretended your card wouldn't work?

He said he was in Canada -" I am actually in Canada so i got exactly enough money for the bus to the airport and the bus to take me to my dorm" so that shoots down the 'day drunk' in Europe theory.
But I'm still not buying the April Fools thing. Fool, OK, April Fools, not so much.
