Bhutan (awesome big metal foil stamps)
Sharjah (lots of cool triangular stamps)

Anybody else with stamp-collecting as travel inspiration?
Interesting, Flyernick - I still collect and can think of a few places that would be interesting to visit based on their stamp history:

Great Britain - of course, home of the Penny Black
Guyana - as British Guiana, home of the magenta, soon to be auctioned
Mauritius - the famous "Post Office Mauritius" error
Australian States: before 1913, the individual states had their own stamps
Antarctic Territories - what does a post office in Antarctica look like?
United Nations - several places world wide issue stamps for mail sent from
their offices
Newfoundland - Issued their own stamps until 1948.
Any number of stamp issuing authorities that no longer exist, from Thurn
und Taxis to Ifni.

Anyone who collects stamps, and unfortunately I think the numbers are dropping and the ages are getting older, has an opportunity to explore a world of geography and history unlike any other. I know so much about the world from this hobby, and a study of the stamps of the "classic" era (Roughly pre -1970) will teach you about places that don't exist anymore, but are still there.

Cheers,

I've only ever had three destinations on my travel bucket list... Ireland, Italy, and New Zealand. I've visited Ireland... would love to go back, or even live there... taking care of Italy in May. New Zealand has proven the difficult one, trying to route there without hitting Australia.

Safari! in Africa!

I'd be contented if I've done that.

Been to most places I desire to go, but still missing Tokyo and Rio. Apart from that, perhaps Tahiti if it wasn't so bloody far away.

6) See a real German Christmas Market
7) Once more watch a nice evening thunderstorm from a plane
8) See a United Visual Artists installation
9) See the Turkish Airlines Lounge
10) See a World's Fair
Eh, not to rub it in but:

1) Check (77W)
2) Check (EK J-class)
3) Check (1A on LH a couple of times, 1K on SAA)
4) Check (EK 77W)
5) Miss (Status highly unlikely to change)
6) Check (Bonn, Cologne, Lubeck, Leipzig)
7) Check (I used to drive 757s for a living flying night freight)
8) Miss (what is it anyway?)
9) Check (You too will be disappointed, it's just a lounge after all and it's very, very crowded)
10) Miss (But will probably be in Dubai for the 2020)

Don't worry, you did anyways. Some of us have jobs where we are locked away in a back room and dont get to travel much.

8) They produce light art. Some amazingly impressive stuff. Here is an example: http://uva.co.uk/work/volume . Personally events are usually a good driving factor for some of my trips. For instance the reason I even went to London both the first and third time was because of Kinectica - a kinetic art festival, and a light art show.

10) Well so much for that one then. I guess it is Milan or bust.

I had that dream for a little while, until I realized I'd sweat myself into frostbite extremities and die....the cost was far more than I would ever consider paying as well.

Destinations:

- Patagonia, Machu Picchu (basically South America)
- Cape Town and a Safari
- Nepal
- Australia and the Great Barrier Reef (a week from now)

Others:

- Fly EK A380 Suites
- Fly SQ A380 Suites (will be doing it a week from now)
- Have an entire F cabin to myself

Accomplished my dream of flying long-haul international F, in the nose of a 747 (1K on OZ) and in the upper deck of a 747 (83H on LH) and getting my scuba diving license earlier this year.

Some I've crossed off:

- LH F with the FCT (going in June)
- CX F (going in November)
- Park Hyatt Tokyo (stayed there last November and again this fall)
- Taj Palace Hotel in Mumbai
- Backpacking around Thailand (spent a month there after I finished college in 2012)

Still on the list:

- 5-6 months backpacking around Southeast Asia
- Really spend some time in Tokyo, not just a few days
- Central Asia (love Kipling and Hopkirk's books)
- Road trip around the American Southwest (Moab, Zion, etc)
- Israel
- Bernese Oberland hut-to-hut hiking in Switzerland
- Island hopping in the South Pacific
- Spend time in India for pleasure, not business. Navi Mumbai really blows.

Southeast Asia will happen within the next few years once I get tired of my current job.

I have a huge map in my living room of all the places I've been and all the trips I want to take. My ultimate dream trip is Texas to Singapore Overland. Amtrak, transatlantic crossing, trains across Europe, Russia, Central Asia and China in to Southeast Asia and down the Malay Peninsula to Singapore. I'd be gone for a year or two but it'd be a hell of an adventure.

By ship?

(Maybe that's not strictly overland but it's not-by-air which is what I was aiming for)
