Unhappy Airship Venture's "Eureka"

I had the privilege of watching "Eureka" take off a few years back at Moffett Field. Some of my fellow Society for Aviation History members were aboard. I believe it sat 12 passengers (not sure if that included the two pilots). They discharged the required amount of water ballast before floating away (was alarming to some of us who didn't understand, but now do).

Last fall Eureka flew back east to promote itself. We are very sorry she is no more. It was sad to watch her being deflated (per my friend who is curator of the Moffett Field Museum).
