3. It's the fall of 2000 and you are in Portland, Oregon. You've just completed a project as a consultant and have now accepted an invitation from friends to join them for a late season backpacking trip in Yosemite National Park. You have also ascertained there is a direct flight departing PDX daily at 5:00pm that will get you to the closest airport to Yosemite NP with jet service by 7:40pm. One intermediate stop will be made en route by flight 333. What air carrier will you be flying on and what airport will you be arriving into at 7:40pm? Also identify the en route stop and the twin engine jet aircraft type. ANSWERED

DC-9? In that era, I am going to have to guess G4 (it wouldn't have been NW and I know it wasn't NW that far out west).

Allegiant Air was based in Fresno at this time. The "low cost" carrier would eventually move their corporate headquarters to Las Vegas where they remain based today. It appears G4 is making a profit these days although their B757-200 service to Hawaii did not work out as planned.

12 months ago I referred in this thread to a collection of old aircraft models in the terminal building of Palma airport in Spain. Just back from there; the models are still there and this time my camera was ready for them !
Starting with a lot of old Palma regulars. In the ones just below, there is one US carrier. They often turned up at Palma several times a day in the 1970s. But where were they coming from ?

The ones above were all aircraft that once upon a time would have been regulars at Palma. There were further cases with those from elsewhere. It's quite a collection. The owner who has lent them (long term it seems) had a pretty good collection. Here's the US case.

Ah, perhaps they're actually USAF KC-135R aircraft in disguise...... 
(That should get the attention of any conspiracy theorists out there who may frequent this thread....)
These 707s also appear to be the bent antenna version of the airplane.

And if it weren't for WHBM, I never would have known that Western B737-200 aircraft flown by WA cockpit crews operated scheduled service on behalf of Air France (with the aircraft painted in AF livery) on its island hopper flights in the Caribbean all the way north into Miami.... ("Air France: The Only Way To Aviate!")
