2- we've mentioned nonstop service between YVR and a non-hub point in the Pacific Northwest on a few occasions ... Spokane/GEG was an intermediate stop for Frontier on a 737-200 that came up from DEN, so it's a very reasonable guess here

GRU and EZE as the intermediate stop on the first flight are also INCORRECT; however, one of them is extremely close
If I understand the question correctly,it's

GIG-XXX-YYY where the connection for options A, B + C to MIA is?

So YYY (connection) is not CCS, but XXX is extremely close to EZE or GRU?

In such a case, 2nd guess will be

GIG-CGH-LIM, guessing Varig operating a 737-200.

  • CGH is INCORRECT (but again very close; should be the proverbial tap-in at this point)
  • RG is INCORRECT
  • 737 is INCORRECT

Was too focussed on VIASA via CCS the past week to remember.

So presumably it has to be Aeroperu with a 727-100 for the 1s leg.

connecting to A. PanAm with a 747
B Aeroperu with the 727 via BOG
C. Aeroperu with the 727 via CCS

I guess washing their planes wasn't a priority.

You should have seen the Air France Concorde I spotted years ago at CDG. I was in the AF business class lounge preparing to fly to Houston on board a Continental 777-200 (CO BusinessFirst pax could use the AF biz class lounge back then). This particular Concorde was parked at a gate quite close to the lounge and the exterior was filthy. In comparison, every British Airways Concorde I saw over the years was spotless.

And BTW, the CO airplane I flew on that day from CDG to IAH was not only clean both inside and out (thus reflecting one of Mr. Bethune's mantras at the time), it was also quite colorful.....

3. That is an excellent guess, sir! And I would have guessed this was Western as well!

However, it wasn't WA, the flight in question did not stop in Portland or Salt Lake City and the equipment wasn't a 727-200....but the third stop was indeed Phoenix.

Please guess again!

This one has me stumped. I don't think the other big West Coast carriers (OC/PS) of the day served YVR except for UA which historically served YVR as a tag from SEA (though much later than 1981 I did fly YVR-ORD nonstop on a UA DC-10; same trip where I arrived in YVR on a UA 722 from SEA)

I don't think our OTAQ&D pax ever like leaving a city on the same carrier which they arrived, and certainly not on much of the same routing, but maybe this is the time our Quizmeister has zigged while the rest of us zagged:
FL 73S routing YVR-GEG-DEN-PHX-TUS?
