SAL with 757
GUA with 733

(Just guessing on which equipment continued to which Central American location but I seem to remember UA did have a few USA-MEX-Central America flights after the PA acquisition)
Whoops! We are only looking for five other U.S. cities here.....and that's because I do not have the nonstop United schedules into Mexico City from foreign cities. Thus, please consider this bonus quiz item now clarified and amended. However, if anyone has the UA scheds into MEX nonstop from exotic locations in Latin America, I think everyone wouldn't mind seeing them!

So with that being said.....

Miami with a B737-300 is correct.....but not with a B757-200 as United was only operating one flight a day from MIA to MEX. Here's the sched...

UA 849: Miami (MIA) 7:25a - 9:54a Mexico City (MEX)
Freq: Daily
Service classes: F/Y
Meal service: Breakfast
Equip: 733

San Francisco with a B737-300 is also correct. Here's the sched......

UA 1011: San Francisco (SFO) 11:35a - 5:48p Mexico City (MEX)
Freq: Daily
Service classes: F/Y
Meal service: Lunch
Equip: 733

And from Los Angeles, United was indeed operating nonstop B737-300 with three flights a day, one operating daily except Saturdays and Sundays and the other two operating daily. Plus, UA was operating a fourth daily nonstop from LAX to MEX.....but not with a B737-300.

Please guess again, Senor!

bonus: UA almost certainly ran IAD-MEX, I’d guess with a 757

Pues, with LAX/MIA/SFO it looks like I am two US cities short.

I will guess that the non-733 equipment flying the 4th LAX-MEX frequency was an A320.

As for the other two USA to MEX routes by UA:
ORD with 320
IAD with 320

I'm pretty sure that in 1995, UA did have flights from MEX to further south in Central America.

(Edited to add: a 1996 OAG shows UA operating SJO-MEX with an A320)

For a late 1940s design (it was - first flight 1952) the Bristol Britannia was no slouch.

Bonus question : What was the longest flight a Britannia ever made ?

You know, despite our conversation about Grateful Dead above, at the Bickershaw mud-fest in 1972, I always felt that much-hyped US bands were a little less than cutting edge, and could too readily drop back into a bit of humdrum C&W or country folk. And so it proved that day, they were top of the bill but, well maybe it was the weather, maybe it was the wait, who knows. So for me the spectacle of the weekend was Hawkwind, something of a different style again. Here they are that year
. Goodness, whoever would have thought they would make it into this thread, even Stacia , who for once has her clothes on - well, it is from a BBC recording. Certainly not the case that time, or whenever else I saw them.

Now Stacia lives nowadays, many decades on, in Ireland, but quite likely comes over to London from time to time, and there's always the chance that the Aer Lingus BAe146/RJ discussed above, operated by Cityjet, is the best option. If anyone learns of such a trip, let me know, and as the aircraft lifts off from LCY I'll give her a little wave ... just like I did 48 years ago. There, You knew I was going to get back On Topic about fine old aircraft. And did you think the band were singing about the American Airlines fleet ?

In response to your equipment guesses.....

Fourth UA nonstop from LAX to MEX with an A320: No Senor! It was another aircraft type.

UA nonstops (there were two daily flights) from ORD to MEX with the A320: No Senor! It was another aircraft type which was operated on both flights.

UA nonstop from IAD to MEX with an A320: Please see my response above to jrl767.

In scheduled service, I'll guess between Wake Island and Tokyo.

Got to beat ~7,550 Km/ 4,700 miles. Wikipedi puts the range at 4,430 miles which is short of the TYO-YVR distance (tailwinds?)

I believe I'm looking at well over 5,500 miles.

I took it out but how about LHR-GIG? I think EZE/BUE would have been just too far.

Neither of these points, but the flight paths likely crossed.

If it helps, the captain of the first such flight was ex-RAF. But it wasn't a UK operation.

Bonus question : What was the longest flight a Britannia ever made ?

I don't know the exact place in South America, but I recall once reading that a Britannia was used to transport a Nazi war criminal from South America nonstop to Israel. Beyond that, I'm even foggier than usual. Did it depart from Argentina or Brazil? Anyway, if anyone here knows a bit more about this (if it is indeed the longest flight, then W will certainly know), please speak up because South America nonstop to Israel would certainly be a long haul. Rio to Tel Aviv comes out to 6390 miles while Buenos Aires to Tel Aviv comes in at 7610.
