I would like to start by setting the bar for a trip I have upcoming from YYJ-SFO-MUC-ZRH-HKG. With a 5 and half hour connection in SFO, 1 hour in MUC, and 3 hours 20 mins. in ZRH.My total (elapsed) time of travel will be 36 hours and 4 minutes!

Anybody top that?

(Just in case you were wondering why I am doing this crazy thing, Its a result of the MPM limits over the Pacific from YYJ, and also limited F class availability on points in winter over the Pacific.)

YHZ-KEF-LHR-DXB-SYD
Departed YHZ on 3 October, arrived SYD on 6 October. 3 overnight flights in Economy class.
Total flight time: 27 hours, 40 minutes.
Transit time (on ground) in airports: 14 hours 50 minutes.
Total travel time: 42 hours, 30 minutes.

Having injured my knee in Canada, I was walking with 2 crutches and, consequently, needed wheelchair assistance. At every airport, I was treated with helpfulness and consideration, and all security checks were done politely and efficiently.

About 24 hours. Exeter to Barcelona on a coach. Via Dover and most of France. Why on earth we didn't get the boat from Plymouth i'll never know. The best sleep I got the whole week we were away (university football tournament) was on a floor on the boat coming back

OPs question would include connections, but bell to bell before midnite?

Nowadays, its Hawaii for us.. a few times we had a couple of connections coming back, and makes for a long trip..

A flight to Hawaii from YYC with 2 connections still isn't nearly as long as a TPAC.

It is if your other trips were to Florida!

I just did BUF-IAD-SAN-EWR-BUF straight in about 18 hours, it's hell, even in "F", even with DirectTV - I dont mind doing a long schlep international (even in Y), especially since I know I am going on vacation, but domestic trips like that kill.

This isn't nearly as bad as YYZ-YVR-LAX-NRT-SIN-SYD-AKL-BKK-LHR without an overnight in hotel. Thank god for airline lounges.

The closest thing I've ever done is SEA-CHI-WAS-ATL on Amtrak. Four nights on board. I did have a bedroom; coach would have been pretty miserable. There were layovers of a few hours in Chicago and Washington, but not overnight.

This thread has inspired me to break up my trip in March.

It is now BUF-ORD-GRU-GIG-GRU-ORD-LAX (overnight) - SFO-HKG-IST-ECN

It would have been too much in one go.

This is an immediate turn - CO mistake fare

Now that's one messed up routing if you didn't overnight in LAX ^ :D

Well i have done several trips US to India ranging from 22 to 36 hours total (without hotel stay...just waiting around in airports). I didnt think much of it, as 24 hours is pretty much required for US to India (if flying from Texas or west ooast).

Worst flights ever were (due to delays)
1. a simple BAH-CMB-MAA on Air LAnka (those days) became:
BAH - 30 hours in airport - DOH-COK-CJB-MAA (total 2 days).
I could not get out of BAH for 30 hours due to visa reasons.
about 40 pax (including me) were in this situation. Air Lanka folks were nowhere nearby. So, no one to re-route us! (I did not even know what re-route meant that time).
Thankfully, one pax helped me re-route on an IC flight to COK. This flight was interesting as they allowed smoking inside the plane!!

2. MCO-PIT-CDG-AUH-MCT-BAH-MAA (took about 40 hours or so)
Was supposed to fly the part: CDG-BAH-MAA on GF, but they kept delaying the flight, and suddenly landed in AUH (without announcing in-flight) and transferred all pax to another plane to MCT and then on to BAH!!

3. MAA-BAH-FRA-IAH (GF plus LH) became 2 days of hell:

MAA (Delayed 8 hours) - MCT-BAH (missed flight; stuck at airport 8 hours or so)-CDG-DFW-IAH (via AA)

For the MAA delay I could have gone home. But, the airline refused to let us exit the airport saying they could take off any minute. Of course in India you cannot exit security as you please.

In all the above 3 situations, I was much younger, status-free, flying cheap GF tickets.:eek: Of course, my bags did not make it either!! (but they were found...in #3, my bags got to me after 10 days!).

You will probably believe it when i say "I wont ever fly GF again"
:D:D
