My pet peeves...

1. No phone book in the room.

2. No ashtray in smoking room. This happens more often than not

1. Charges for 800 # calls.

2. Lousy TV channel availability.

3. Hotels that are using Sept. 11 tragedies as excuse for cutting services.

No batteries in remote. This really is based on theiving room guests, but it's still a peeve.
A non-smoking room with "that smell".
Having to beg for rightful benefits.

Soap, soap, and more soap!

And I don't like having to move the nightstand so I can find the outlet behind it and plug my laptop in.

How about used coffee packet still in coffee maker when you go to make fresh coffee. Makes me wonder what else is in coffee pot..but I really dont want to know.

Thats like the story on CNN about the murder and/or rape where they found over 40 people worth of DNA in hotel room. I DON'T WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THAT!

1. Like QuantumLeap I really don't think an argument should be necessary to get what the program offers.

2. I agree that some of the TV remotes in Hampton Inns are due for replacement.

3. Stop charging for toll-free calls.

(2) towels that are hung on a rack mounted over the toilet. It never fails - reach out from the shower, grab a towel, remaining towels fall into toilet.

Especially when they balance a washcloth on top of a hanging hand towel.

And amen on the double decaf thing.

How about a big gap between door and carpet, so you get to hear everybody talking/walking down the hallway? And doors that self-close with a slam? The Doubletree San Jose is a good example in both cases.

I doubt that anyone else feels this way, but I hate the mirrored doors on the closet right if it is right by the door. I mean, do you know how many times I have walked into my room and scared myself!

ROFLMAO!!!! Thought this was just something I did. I still scare myself in the middle of the night when I see the reflection after making a trip to the bathroom.

As for the big gap at the door, I usually put a towel down and block the light. It can look like a light is turned on with the light from under the door reflecting off the mirror.

What I like even less is doing that and then finding there are no free outlets (especially in those kinds of rooms where the only phone to plug your laptop into is on that nightstand)! (Typically in those cases there's only two oullets there, one used by the lamp over the nightstand and the other by the clock radio on the nightstand.) I had to start packing a multi-outlet adaptor just because of that.

A related one that I've found in some rooms is that the most convient free outlet in the room (which I want to use for something that must not lose power for even a second) is on the switched outlet (which is never labeled, so I have do experiments to find it). I want the light switch just inside the door to only work a lamp near the door, not the outlet pair furthest away from the door!

Now that I've complained, let me say what I really do like in this category: I've had a couple Hampton rooms where the desk had both an AC plug and a "data" phone jack at one end.
