Pet peeves...

I've found that after staying in countless hotels, I've developed my own list of pet peeves:

(1) alarm clock going off at 4AM in the adjoining (empty) room. Why can't housekeeping check the alarm clocks as part of cleaning after a guest checks out?

(2) towels that are hung on a rack mounted over the toilet. It never fails - reach out from the shower, grab a towel, remaining towels fall into toilet.

(3) microwave pancakes at breakfast. If they crunch, they shouldn't be served, especially if you don't have status and are paying $8 or so.

I'd be interested in seeing others...

How about one that we never had to worry about until a couple of years ago?

4) Not getting fresh towels each day because you hung the ones you used that morning up on the towel rack (where they belong!)

I'm sorry, but this "we want to save water, so throw your towels on the floor if you want new towels" thing doesn't work for me. It's force of habit ... wet towels go on the towel rack! How many of you have used towels on the floors of your houses? (Parents of 8-13 year old boys need not answer.) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

How about a little sign that you can flip up in the bathroom saying "I want to save water ... please don't give me fresh towels."

That's incorrect. For stays at Hampton Inn you earn full 10 points per $ spent and 100 airline miles.

Charging for toll free calls in any way shape or form

Not following the Hilton rules. I don't want to hear "Oh, we don't do that." for some benefit clearly printed in the HHonors rules. The benefits should be provided with a smile and w/o having to demand (or even ask.) If the hotel doesn't want to do that, it shouldn't be a Hilton hotel.

I can't stand the scent of that carpet deodorizing stuff some properties use when they vacuum.

The TV remotes at Hampton Inns seem to be reaching the end of their life cycle. I find they often barely work or not at all.

As a former 13 year old boy, throwing wet towels on the floor is one of the perks of travelling. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

How about:

Carpet still wet from being steam cleaned. (As annoying as it is, still better than carpet desperately in need of steam cleaning I guess)

Asking for connecting rooms, being told okay, and receiving rooms next to each other that don't connect.

So, may I infer from this that you leave the toilet seat UP? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I leave it up as a treat. It signifies two things. I can watch what i want on TV, and can drink beer in bed.

However I do pu it down when I have company. They play hard to get if thier nice little butt touches porcelain.

sorry about the speling http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Here's another of my top peeves:

- All lamps (all 3 of them :-) ) have 40 watt bulbs. Can't read, can barely see to pack on my last day unless I open the curtain.

- on a similar note, finding one or more lamps with burned out bulbs or no bulbs at all. Once checked into an Adam's Mark hotel and when I closed the curtains and went to turn on the lights, discovered every bulb in the room was missing!

LOL... I've heard of guests stealing towels, but never of guests stealing the light bulbs. You would have thought housekeeping would have picked up on that.
