How do you deal with prostitutes calling your hotel room at night?

i hate them!

...not for their services, which i think is just one way for people to earn a living, i hate them because they disturb my sleep.

and i can't unplug my phone because i need the wake-up call in the morning.

how do you deal with these calls?

Is this a joke? Does this really happen to people?

It happens now and then - I've experienced it in Novosibirsk and Kyiv. Just say no thanks and that is the end of it. I've never had incessant calls throughout the night, but you can always take the phone off the hook!

I wouldn't call it common, but this does happen (mostly in Asia).

I'm not sure what the OP is looking for because the way you deal with it is pretty strait forward - unplug the phone.

Sure Does....

I've had it happen to me in Makati, Philippines where the girls would be knocking on your door and calling during all hours. It was quite a while ago, but I'd imagine over a 3-4 night stay, I only had 4-5 calls or knocks on the door.

I also had it happen in Qingdao, China where the girls would knock on your door, generally a few minutes after you arrived in your room.

Since it wasn't persistent, I just laughed it off as part of the culture.

Offer 1/2 of the stated rate and work your way to an accommodation.

I can guarantee that almost 100% -it wont occur in USA here . Maybe in Asia or Europe . Even then - how do they get your room #? How do they know you are staying single and not with family?

Also, I am assuming that - some of these hotels are well known for providing call girls. So why not check out the reviews online and then book another hotel unless of course that type of hotel was what you wanted or you are vising a city for such type of activity.

I've never had this problem occur nor have I ever heard of this happening. I would be absolutely livid if something like this happened while my wife and I were on vacation somewhere. If it were just me, that's a different story Just kidding. It seems like to solve the problem you only need have a little common sense, take the phone off the hook. How often do you get calls during the night on your room phone that are of actual substance?

Sure I've read something about this before. They are supposed to try knocking on every door and basically seeing who answers and if they are male / alone before going to the "you want company?" route. Not heard about phonecalls though....would require them either watching you or the hotel getting kickbacks.

Perhaps in certain areas hotels should add a third question to the room preferences:
1. Would you prefer a smoking or a non-smoking room?
2. Would you prefer a single king or two queen beds?
3. Would you prefer a ho or a no-ho room?

I've had it happen a few times in, primarily, western hotel chains in China (hardly at all in Chinese "locals" hotels). I just say, "No, don't call back."
