Even if he was reclining this seat - he has no obligation to "recline it only half-way" upon your request. I think that request would be unreasonable, too.
He put up the seat during meal service. Thats quite considerate. Be happy and have a good flight.
(BTW - what did the person behind you say when you reclined your seat?)

Ahhh, it's not each individual's personal space, is it? It's the space you want right now in this situation with no regard to the other person's personal space.
Don't kid yourself. There is no way you can look at this as a civility of personal space issue without realizing you are only considering yourself, and not the other person, who is utilizing space he is entitled to use based on how the airline has placed and constructed the seats. The fact you don't like it is irrelevant, isn't it?
Geez, again.

Then we agree. The area where the seat reclines is part of the person-in-front-of-you's personal space, not your personal space. After all, his seat is designed to go there, not your seat. I don't understand how you can even think you are entitled to his personal space.

For myself, reclining is not about grabbing what is mine, but about taking pressure off my lower spine. Sitting upright in certain seats can be painful after long periods if the seat cushion edge is pressing into my legs just right, which is at times the case as well. I think it is all about being the in the height zone the seats are designed for. 6'3" Mr. P1 feels cramped, but doesn't get the backache. For me, some recline makes all the difference, along with putting my feet up a bit (on my bag, not the seat or wall...gross)

You're not being considerate of the person behind you. You're simply trying to enforce your rules which are at odds with the airline's.

I typically just look back. If the guy behind me is reclined, then I'll recline. Otherwise I don't. Rocket recliners need to be smacked in the head, but especially in FC, I don't mind if someone reclines into me.
In coach my legs are long enough where the front seat often can't recline at all, but doesn't keep them from trying for long enough to bruise the crap out of my knees.

As a person who might be sitting behind you, it makes no difference to me whatsoever whether or not you recline -- it's your seat and your space. However, as someone who is NOT comfortable sitting bolt upright, I have every intention of using the space allotted to me by the airline, and I will recline.

P.S. All ROCKET RECLINERS should be LEVON'd.........thanks TH

I think the real question to ask is, why is a Diamond sitting in a middle seat?
Not that I expect anyone to read this: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/conti...ht-saying.html
But its a story about how I was in the seat in front of someone else, i was fully reclined, and how I nearly got thrown off the plane (the plane was still at the gate)
