So Im traveling internationally for work. Here is my schedule:
LGA-PEK - week 1
PEK-STR - week 2
STR-DUB - week 3
DUB-LHR - week 3
LHR - JFK

Now this is the first time I've been in Beijing, and I cannot believe how cheap the luggage and clothing and everything is!
I want to buy a new suitcase, and some clothes...but I am not sure how I can get it home.

For my flight from PEK-STR and LHR-JFK, I have no problems checking in 2 bags, since its international.
STR-DUB might be an issue.
But, I know DUB-LHR (aer lingus) is an issue because its a short flight.

Any ideas how I can do this?
Is there a way I can check my bag in with American (my LHR-JFK flight) from PEK and tell them to put it on my LHR-JFk flight, or something?
That bag won't have anything I need, it would probably be just a new suitcase and some new clothes.

Any ideas?

what airline str-dub?....what costs are you anticipating?.... i doubt that aa or anyone would put your bag on a flight you're not on...you could look nto shipping the bag home from pek...

It seems you have to catch quite a few different flights in 3 weeks.

If I were you and couldn't manage the check-in luggage allowance with all the airlines involved, I would just find an easy and cheap way and ship home all the new "additions" that I won't need on the road. Why bring along all those things you don't need when traveling internationally for business?

You could get a suitcase that fits inside another suitcase -- although if you bought a bunch of stuff too (as you seem to imply), that wouldn't work.

Incidentally, there is a reason a lot of the baggage in China is so cheap. It might not last through your trip home! Check the quality carefully before buying.

which is not a lot of weight.
Overage charges:
Zone 2: Within Europe, incl. Germany (without CIS). �10/kg
Zone 4: Between Zone 2 and Africa and Asia. �30/kg


DUB-LHR (Aer Lingus)

looks like a 2nd bag is $50
but no charge for First/Business class


So it looks like the most trouble I would have (in general) is with Aer Lingus.
I have not bought a new suitcase or anything yet.
And it looks like I will NOT be buying anything =(
Even if I could ship a new bag home, the cost of shipping would cancel out any savings Im getting from buying it here.
