clacko - what airline str-dub?
Here is my schedule/airline/their fees:
PEK-STR (Lufthansa)
STR-DUB (Lufthansa)
>On all flight routes within Germany and within other European countries, as well as between Europe and other countries, including Germany, CIS, Middle East, Africa and Asia, your free baggage allowance is determined according to the 'Weight Concept'. With this concept the free baggage allowance is defined by total weight of your baggage, rather than by the number of bags.
Economy Class: 20 kg (44lb) - plus 1 ski bag
which is not a lot of weight.
Overage charges:
Zone 2: Within Europe, incl. Germany (without CIS). €10/kg
Zone 4: Between Zone 2 and Africa and Asia. €30/kg
DUB-LHR (Aer Lingus)
>Checked baggage weighing in total up to 20kgs will be charged the discount fee per bag per flight if bags are booked up to two hours prior to departure on aerlingus.com.
Cork/Dublin/Shannon/Knock to UK - 15 euro
LHR-JFK (American Airlines)
>Travel to/through/from Europe
One bag carry-on: No charge
One bag checked: No charge
One personal item: No charge
looks like a 2nd bag is $50
but no charge for First/Business class
So it looks like the most trouble I would have (in general) is with Aer Lingus.
I have not bought a new suitcase or anything yet.
And it looks like I will NOT be buying anything =(
Even if I could ship a new bag home, the cost of shipping would cancel out any savings Im getting from buying it here.
