Difference in passport/ticket

Difference in passport/ticket
I am taking a trip to Netherlands/Spain/Italy this summer and name on airline tickets does not match my passport. The suffix (JR) is left off the airline tickets but is on my passport. Will this present a problem with security/customs/airline in these two countries? Thanks for your help.

Welcome to FlyerTalk, lava73!! I don't see any problem if the JR is missing from your BP. When I fly, I only enter my middle initial, instead of my full middle name. I have never had any problem with TSA or CBP. In addition, my passport and passport card have my full middle name, while my tickets only have Friendly X Skies, instead of Friendly XXXXXX Skies.

AFI, First Name, Last Name, Middle Initial should match the passport and the DOB and Sex should match you. Those seem to be the requirements of the TSA 'Secure Flight' program. You should be OK.

I'm glad you brought this up. I'm flying ATL-LHR on Delta in 2 weeks and realized that I'm in the same situation. I did a little research and found a few things:

Secure Flight Rules Regarding Name
Your name must match LETTER FOR LETTER what your government issued I.D. shows. If the name on your I.D. is "William Quincy Jones" then the name on your ticket cannot read "William Q Jones". Prefixes such as Ms., Mr., Dr. or Rev. are not allowed under Secure Flight, regardless of what is on your I.D. Suffixes such as Jr. and III are not allowed under Secure Flight, regardless of what is on your I.D.

HalfBrit-I had seen that same info that you posted about Secure Flight and suffix but was not sure if that was the case in European countries. Not sure if foreign countries use the same guidelines with the suffix.
