Not quite as extreme as some here but the emptiest flight I've been on was BA from LHR-MAN last year.
Can't have been more than about 30 people! |
Yes, I'd have been flew the empties flight from LAS-PHX. It just only 15 or 20 passengers. Because it was light loads during the day before Christmas.

Early 80's. I was the ONLY passenger on a United DC-8 from SFO to OAKLAND (8 miles). Apparently it was a positioning flight. The Aircraft was in SFO for maintenance and then ferried to OAK to start the scheduled OAK-SAC-ORD route.

Dragonair, 8 people in Y, 4 in J. A330, very empty. delays in Pudong had them moving everyone forward, I didn't noticed they changed my flight @ checkin, and went to lounge. When I went to gate they were wondering why I hadn't got on the earlier flight. They put me on the empty A330 (original flight) that was ferrying back with just crew an hour later. |
LHR to BLR in IT in September 2008.Not more than 10 including me in Y and 2 in F on a A330 !!. I flew IT to see what the fuss was about (they had just started that route a few days before).came back the next day and the load was slightly better(maybe 15 in Y LOL)

LAS-LAX on WN last summer. 6 people (4 of which were nonrevs like myself.) About 5000 feet after takeoff, we are notified that we have to turn back around & land due to broken nav equip. So, also my shortest flight!

Back in 1998, LH A-300 (3 class, remember those?) FRA-CAI-ADD. FRA-CAI was full, but most everyone got off at CAI. Maybe thirty or so people continued onto ADD. My Dad was in paid C with my brother and I in Y and we self-upgraded. My only time doing so.

While I love reading flyertalk - I don't post much... but this is finally a thread I could relate to.
My best memory of an empty flight was flying on SN Brussels in 2005 - full flight from Brussels to Dakar, Senegal - couple sitting next to me going on their honeymoon. Almost everyone gets off and no new passengers added for the next leg - Dakar to Monrovia, Liberia. I think it was a 777 - big plane - there were about 15-20 people in Y... Liberia was in a transitional government, most of the people on the plane were UN types or aid workers. |
I flew UA SFO- NRT about 2 weeks after 9/11. There were only about 50 passengers in coach on a 747. The flight attendants made an announcement that many were being furloughed after completion of their flights.

I've posted upthread about twice being the only person on a Continental B1900 in 2005 TCB-MIA/MIA-TCB
Last month I was on an Etihad A320 from KWI-AUH (4:05am departure) I was the only person up front and there were maybe 8 or 9 people in Y http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8030/7...6e536c5c78.jpg |
Early 2001 we flew CDG-DEL on AF. About 5 people in an long-haul config Airbus (forgot which model) in Y. Cabin was good for 200+ passengers. We knew all FAs by name afterwards :)

I flew on Easter Sunday from DFW to Philadelphia about 15 yrs ago on a Mad Dog with 7 people on it. The FA's put on an egg hunt for the group with snacks in the plastic eggs just to lighten it up. Nicely done!!
