Ear Pressure

I've noticed that over the last couple of years that I nearly never experience ear pressure during takeoff or landing any more. I find that if I do experience it, it is often on an asian airlines narrow bodies, CX have come to mind as an airline I have recently felt a little pressure.

When I was younger, I had ear problems and when I would get on a plane during takeoffs and landings I could no longer have conversations with the people next to me because I couldn't hear them due to the pressure, so I'm quite glad I no longer feel it.

I don't actually remember how long its been since I haven't felt any pressure, so I'm just wondering on average how long does it usually take before someone begins to no longer experience it?

when i was younger i had the same problem the OP had. however, i had a major ear problem when i was in middle school that required multiple surgeries(lost hearing). Ever since then, my ears hardly pop when I fly. I can hear fine too when aboard an a/c.

I don't think we can just "get used to it". Rather, we learn to equalize pressure without really thinking about it and it drops below our conscious level. Most flights it's a total non-issue to me, but if my nose is stuffy I'm sure aware of it!

I would think every "regular" person would feel it but manage to adjust to it. Some are not bothered, while some need to try harder. If you really don't feel any pressure, could it be a warning sign?
