On our current contract with ITA, I think most power users would burn through $10 in less than a month...This is why we launched with alerts first to see how the economics worked out, before we build this into the rest of the site.

Is it possible to add in dates? For instance, it would be nice on this page to have a departure and return date option.

I've been noticing that the lower priced NWA fares to SIN, HKG and BKK haven't been listed for quite some time. They seem to be published fares as expedia and itasoftware can pull from them.

Wonder why FC is missing the sub M fare listings?

One annoying thing for me is that flights to Branson, MO (BKG, a new airport) were added a few months ago and it shows the mileage to Branson as 0 and the PPM as $0, so it's always at the top of the list. I emailed Graeme but never heard back and it's never been fixed, so I figured I should post here so he might see it.

Mods, can we pleeeassse have a consolidated threat for Farecompare bugs / issues / feature requests (if they even intend to keep maintaining this tool.)
I think there must be close to 100 threads now on various bugs, feature limitations, etc.

It seems to me there is has been a progressive deterioration in the feature set and the reliability of this tool at http://www.farecompare.com/search/flyertalk.html
- but note that you can still pull up the following options, when you select "more":
Fare Rules
Flight Schedules
Fare Routing
Fare Calendar
Show All Fares in this Market

One most irritating thing is that now even the within North America "flyertalk" search is getting less reliable for even showing all city pairs (not referring to the tendency to show many published fares without availability right now).

For example, I've noticed that many of the best fares I know of don't show up any more. Took a closer look and see now that, for example, FareCompare now seems to think there is no air service between Washington/Baltimore to Detroit. There is also no service to any of the Houston airports, unless you search from WAS and BWI separately. Even Continental does not show up with any WAS/BWI flights to Houston. That's news to a lot of folks!
Also AA does not fly to Dallas either.

And they still haven't fixed the longstanding $0 fare to Branson, MO.

For the last two days, we have not been receiving alerts/updates on any domestic fares. I've noticed this on two people's accounts.

Anyone else not receiving domestic fare updates?

Pat89339 May 6, 2010 11:30 am

Received domestic update at 9:44 this morning.

This is still showing up on my lowest EQM page, and has been there for a year, I think.

Thanks, they're back for me as well.

Have not been receiving domestic updates in my MyAlerts page for 4 days now (since 1/31).

I've verified with another user that he's having the same issue, and reported it via email and their page.

And is it possible to pin point a certain city as well?

Still having the same issue. Confirmed with a number of friends that they're having the same issue as well.

Anyone notice that the FT fares page doesn't work for SBP? Yes, I've already made sure there's no city code that would work instead. I tried CSL and it defaults to SBP.

farecompare capabilities

What exactly can Farecompare do for those looking for MR possibilities from a particular airport?

When I go there, I get city pairs rank ordered by cpm, and then the filter reduces the list to the carriers I am interested in. But what, if anything, beyond those "possibilities."? I put hose scare quotes there because many times I can't find those relatively low cpm fares on any days. They're published ones, but in reality don't necessarily exist? Clicking through on "calendar" and "schedule" don't bring up anything useful. Is it possible to get help from Farecompare in actually finding bookable flights for those cpms?

Is it just that I don't understand how to get the most out of this tool, that it can be more useful than it has been for me?

It's not just you. Farecompare is supposed to publish fares, but not check inventory. Often times, you can't actually get what's shown. Finding cheap fares is an art, with a lot of tools to help, but there's still no systematic way to rigorously claim "this is the cheapest you can go from here."

I find ITA more useful because it actually does check inventory, but you can use farecompare to narrow down in which general direction you should be looking.
