Hey KVS

Just wondering if there was a reason why I couldn't find some flights when checking for availability? In particular I cannot get KVS to give me an avilability for the TG direct flight BKK-OSL fon any date, using any availability method.

Also, does the Star Alliance availaibility award search not support LON/FRA as departure and destination airports. I always get an error message when searching using these cities. I assume its a problem with the ANA website?

Thanks for your feedback. That's very interesting as in the past I have looked at SQ's F availability on a daily basis within 5 days of travel and "ALWAYS" that have released F award seats and I have seen them appear on KVS. Now let alone not getting availability on dates further out, I can't even see F seats open up on flights that are even for the next day!!!!!

Following is an example LAX-SIN for tomorrow Tue, June 16th - there are 10 F seats unassigned which most likely means these are all unsold being a day before the flight. F redemption shows F- :td: Either they have started to lock showing availability or there maybe a problem on the ANA engine.

The former. Presumably they acted long before necessary in advance of the route going 77W.

I have been able to access UA upgrade information reliably until about 24 hours ago.

Now I am getting a "Time-Out Requesting Data" error when trying to use this option.

I received 2 complementary CR-1s from UA and would like to use them for an upcoming flight. When I try to use the Awards-Upgrades/UA feature in KVS I get the error "incorrect MP Profile Settings -- Set to Expert"

How do I fix this? I skimmed the FAQ and didnt see this one.

In your UA profile on united.com you need to specify expert mode for searches.

Is this on Vista? If so, Microsoft may have moved it to

How come Sabre searches take so long now? It seems that an average of 600k+ has to be downloaded before search results are shown.

Is there no way you can speed up this search by selecting a airline?

Unfortunately, no -- both are the limitations of that engine. However, all subsequent queries (after the 1st one) should be faster.

When used with a fast engine (e.g. Amadeus Timetables), KVS Tool is capable of displaying results in less than 2 seconds from the time the Go button is pressed.

All systems continue to function normally. Could have been a temporary issue on your ISP's end. Otherwise, pls see http://Help.KVSTool.com

I'm confused, why does the KVS tool need to phone home every time it's run? What if your website is down, then as I user I wouldn't be able to do searches? (Thinking about signing up)

KVW Newb here. Downloaded the tool earlier today and registered as a lite user mainly so I could look up the pax loads on my upcoming flights. The "lite" registration only allows me the use of WSPAN: Availability/ITN method. I'm assuming WSPAN is yet another reservation system like Sabre/Apollo/Galleleo.

A two part query so please bear with me.

No, "9" is the maximum number of seats that is exposed at any time in this reservation system. As for the various fare buckets, you can't add them together. At an extreme, there may be 9 seats available in business and they are willing to sell them in any fare class.

As for different numbers being shown depending on whether you look at the direct flights or the combination, airlines expose different seats for different routes to maximize revenue.

Changed Password - KVS remembers old one?
 
I changed my Upgrades/X1 password to one which a little more secure, after telling my KVS program to memorize the old one. Even when I remove these two lines from the .ini file:

UA.Username=90064737792
UA.Password=bW9yb25uNDC=

(the data in these lines has been scrambled before posting to protect the data therein :) )

When I restart KVS it still times out during data transfer. The copy of KVS on my laptop, which never saw the old password, works fine with identical search parameters. The error message is:

[35761] Request Timed out Requesting [3] [2K]

How can I get my KVS program to totally forget the old X1 password?

There is really no reason why you would need to edit the INI file manually -- you can change your login credentials at any time by simply typing them in the appropriate fields in the Tool.

Pls refer to http://Help.KVSTool.com/#Errors for any connection issues.

You may also wish to try clearing MSIE Cookies and Temporary Files, although this should not be necessary.

Current Platinum subscriber but semi-new using the tool. On QF, F=First, C=Business, W=Prem. Economy, and Y=Economy. When I check for award seats and F and C no longer show up (forget about FS+ or CS-, etc.), does that mean there are no longer ANY F and J award seats on those flights? QF94 on 3 Feb 09, which I already am in a J award seat, shows no F or J award seats beiung available. Are they already gone? Does QF pull their remaining availability until a later date? I already have J award seats to from OZ and NZ from LAX. Just wondering if I can change my itinerary slightly, and maybe fly the A380 back. Already on QF94 on a Wednesday, which is an Airbus day (right now, anyway) and on QF25 on 23 Feb. Used to be 24 Feb until QF pulled the Wednesday QF25's and 26's from the schedule. Thanks.

KVS, thanks for the tips. I zeroed out cookies, set the permissions more relaxed, and generally tried to get past this "[35761] Request Timed out Requesting [3] [2K]" error on my desktop system.

All the other data fetching is done properly, I have tested pretty nearly all the functions at this point (except MPM and RTW :) )
It is only this [3] [2K] fetch which always times out on my desktop computer.

It works on my laptop running XP. Since I run IE6 and both machines, I suspect the problem is probably the Windows 2K I run on this hardened desktop here :)

I don't use this function much, so I will run it on my laptop when I need it. That is the easiest fix, I think :)

I am very happy with KVS and will soon be extending for a 12 month Diamond membership. I have needed this tool for some time...

Now, if there was just somewhere on the web I could make bookings by specifying a fare designator I would be very happy indeed. I used to have a Sabre terminal back in the 1990s, and I sure miss it... :(

When using the Awards/OneWorld Method, if a class does not show-up at all it simply means that there is currently no award availability in that class on any of the flights, shown in the results.

There is really no way to predict if/when award seats will become available...

So if I see an FS- somewhere in the list, then there will be an FS+? If FS doesn't show up at all (or C, or W, or Y, as well), then there is currently no F award availability. OK. Thanks.

Yes, but for greater clarity: No FS shown = FS- on all fight combinations displayed.

Differnt fare basis displayed depending on method
 
TVN and DOTRES brings up different fare basis - see below
DOT Res brings up the 10 day AP T sale fares
TVN brings up a Friday special L fare
I usually do not see such differances in fare basis
Any ideas why the major display differance?

Seat available
 
When I look on Galileo or Worlspan I can see that there is only 1 booking seat in First DIM 19 juil 2009 from CDG to NRT (P1)
AF 276 CDG 13:30 NRT 08:10 +1 772 P1 F0

But if I want to see details, on Amadeus, for example, I can see two seats available: there are 4 seats in First on AF Boeing 772

Seat map is not the same as booked. It is entirely possible (and quite likely in this case) that the seat is sold but not assigned.

Yep as sbm12 pointed out. What normally happens is that people in premium classes don't normally have seats assigned for their flights. Even though a seat has been booked. This is most likely why only 1 seat is showing but two seats are unassigned.
