What often happens, though, is that TripIt Pro reports a delay as soon as they know about it. Then they report the next delay for that flight. Then the next. Then... they report a "PullBack", where the airline has somehow partially undelayed the flight and now the ETD is earlier. This results in several notifications per flight and perhaps AA avoids notifing delays when they believe they'll be able to reverse it.

Doubtful - the XYL's flight two weeks ago was originally delayed 50m then pulled back to 25m and I got both notification msg from AA.

Moving to Travel Tools Forum, the appropriate forum to discuss travel tools such as TripIt and TripIt Pro.

TripIt - AA upgrade process, multiple PNRs, etc.

Does anyone have a trick for getting TripIt to work with a TA-purchased ticket upgraded by AA? Here's the scenario:

  • Ticket is purchased via my travel agent
  • I receive an email with my itinerary from the TA and forward it to [email protected]
  • I call AA to request SWUs be applied
  • AA reissues the ticket after the upgrade clears
  • I forward the AA confirmation email to [email protected]

The result is duplicated flight information because the ticket number has changed and TripIt doesn't seem to be aware of AA's upgrade process or smart enough to see it's the same flight on the same day with the same record locator.

To muddy things further, if it's a mixed itinerary -- say both AA and BA -- the AA email doesn't have the BA record locator (nor the TA's for that matter), so you can't simply replace one itinerary entry with the other -- they have to be merged.

Is TripIt just not a good option for AA flyers?

As this is a TripIt question and not really nor exclusively an American Airlines question, it will be moved to the Travel Tools Forum.

That being said and done, I use TripIt Pro, and it can't do everything. One has to intervene manually with issues such as upgrades and multiple PNRs / codeshares and operating flight numbers, etc. AFAIK.

So, the answer from TripIt is to just not send anything until the upgrades have been processed, then send the final result.

What if the upgrade for a flight doesn't come through until I've already started a trip? I'm 4 hours into a Pro trial and I've already marked my calendar to cancel this thing. If I can't track the new ticket number and new class of sevice, I'm better off making notes on a paper itinerary and taking advantage of the free FlightAware app -- it would actually be less work to maintain the data there...

Thanks to Kent Wang I get this script, modify it so it could work on any server and put it as Open Source here: https://github.com/rvnikita/google_calendar_tripit_fix

Hope it will help you equally it helps me.

TripIt does not process cancellations?

I make a hotel reservation, get email, it automatically shows up in tripit, all is well.

Then I cancel this reservation, get the cancellation email, but tripit does nothing, the res stays in tripit unless I manually delete it.

Surely they can process the cancellation email just as easily as they can process the original reservation.

I can't be the only one hugely annoyed by this. But I don't use Pro, could that be my problem? Although the side-by-side basic vs pro feature comparison does not mention this.

Thanks.

I use TripIt Pro, but think it's the same either way. It seems like if I rebook something (extend my trip by a day, for example) it will recognize it most of the time. If I just cancel a trip, it doesn't. I rarely cancel trips and seldom have to change them, so it's not that big of a deal to me.

On the other hand, having my Outlook rules setup to automatically forward my trips is awesome. I rarely have to remember to do that since I am pretty brand loyal.

For me the minor inconvenience is well worth the benefits. I figure it's the price I pay for poor planning. :-)

Anyone know what the red number on the tripit icon means? (iphone...similar to the red number that means you have unopened emails) More importantly, how to get rid of it?

All ios notifications appear as a bubble over the app icon. Trip-It is notifying you that you have pending notification or info waiting for you within the app itself. this can include notifying you that you are now able to check in for a flight or that a flight departure time or gate has changed.

TripIt app

I knew it meant I had a notification...but upon opening the app there is nothing of note to be found. Six notifications? Doesn't make sense. Not using pro so no flight change.

Got rid of it through the IPhone settings Notifications area, but if anyone knows how to find what I am being notified of, let me know. I'd expect to see a notification, acknowledge it, and have the badge decrement.

Thank you for contacting us. A bug in our iOS app is displaying false (red numeric) alerts for some of our non-TripIt Pro (free account holders). Our developers are actively working on a fix. Our apologies for any inconvenience or confusion this has caused you.

As soon as a fix is put in place we will place notification on our Help Bug page. Please refer to http://help.tripit.com/entries/20299618

Not able to log into trip it from chrome, firefox, or safari on my mac

I sat down at the computer to do this a few minutes ago, and now this. I have a trip in a few days and was looking forward working on my itinerary. What a PITA.

Working fine for me right now in Safari and Chrome on a Mac. Also fine in iOS.

Maybe it was a short term glitch?

It worked about an hour later

It was a short term glitch. Just annoying because I wanted to get things done quickly.
