Thanks SanDiego. So this morning I woke up and got a couple of messages from Book Your Award apologizing the the delay, and letting me know the miles will be reposted back to my account. Apparently they have a staff member out with the flu which is causing a backup. Fair enough but several days of no response, especially after the AA freak out had me worried. Book Your Award also sent an invoice, with a 75% discount off the booking services for inconvenience caused. I find this to be satisfactory although I think I'll wait to pay the invoice until I see the miles posted back to my AA account!
I wonder if the suddenly hasty response was from my tweet to Gary Left last night and/or my post here - I'd like to think it was and I really do love how helpful you all can be -- thank you!

Award Booking Service Recommendation
I am going to use an award booking service for an October trip to Coatia (DTW-ZAG & SPU-DTW) - does anyone have any recommendations from personal experience? I looked at some reviews of some services, but none seem to be fairly recent.

What would they get you that an ExpertFlyer subscription and some help from Flyertalk can't? Is it just a matter of you are too busy to do the research? I've never heard of these 'award booking services' until your post and another in the past few days.
If you have to give them access to your Skymiles account, I'd be very wary and don't blame you for soliciting reviews though.

This is not helping to answer your question, but a quick, flexible date search shows a few different options in October for 140k/person (Delta's current 'low' to Europe) IF you stick with DTW-ZAG-DTW, and do as separate ticket to/from SPU (seeing $63 one-way on Croatia Airlines).
Looks like a mix of DL and AF metal.

@rubesl, take a look at earlier messages in this now merged thread for reviews and in the wikipost for a list of providers.

Paid service that helps you book with points?
I have an international trip that I'm having trouble booking with award points (I waited too long) Does anyone know of a service I can pay to help me with this? I have Chase Ultimate rewards, Skymiles, Advantage miles & Southwest and think I might need to transfer to a partner.

Surprisingly there have been several recent requests for the same service as this.
Including Professional Points Specialist?!
