Yep, tried a restore. Got the "Wrong File Format" message.

I got the same "Wrong File Format" yesterday. Emailed AwardWallet about the problem and got this response late last night: "Sorry for the inconvenience caused! We are looking into it."

Working for me, too. Thank goodness! I rely upon it.

Less than 24 hours after emailing AwardWallet about the problem, I got an email that it was fixed ... and it is!

Ugh. Here we go again. Lost all my passwords.

I didn't notice until this latest update of Ghostery, but AwardWallet is logging me into some of my programs through affiliate links. So any purchases made on those sites after I log in through AW spin off a percentage to AW.

How is that possible? Wouldn't you have to log in again via their shopping portal?

If *I* were getting the percentage, yes.

But if AW gets the percentage on their account, no.

Mary2e Oct 31, 2016 11:48 am

I'm still confused.

I go to AW and update my balances, which includes logging into the account. I close out of AW, including my browser, and then open the browser again, log into AA, or HH, or even Chase to get to their shopping portals. I log in at that time and proceed to shop.

Are you saying that AW is still going to get $$ from it? I can't imagine how because I always get my shopping points, and I have logged into AW from all of the computers I use.

If you logout and close your browser, probably not. But possibly. Cookies work differently for different vendors.

I'm not disputing whether you override the cookies or tracking link with a new one from your affiliate portal, but if you don't use a new affiliate portal, theirs may remain.

So if you think you are just going to a website and shopping and didn't use a portal to get there, they may be getting a piece of that transaction.

Mary2e Oct 31, 2016 12:26 pm

Time to remove AW cookies from my browser :)

Thank you.

josephstern Oct 31, 2016 12:42 pm

I don't think it's that obvious.

If you click a link to log in to one of your programs, they refer you to a third-party site like Doubleclick or those ones with names like jdocy.com. The cookie may end up actually being a hilton.com cookie that is coded to pay out affiliate money to Commission Junction if you book a room. And CJ pays a portion back to AW.

jrjcopp Nov 15, 2016 9:48 am

When I try to log into Hilton from AwardWallet today it is taking me to:

flexoffers.com/invalidlink/

and stopping there.

josephstern Nov 15, 2016 11:43 am

Same.

That's because they're trying to transfer you through their affiliate link, and it's broken.
