There is of course roadsync which does everything you wanted.....

I've tried Roadsync more than once. I have a licensed copy that I upgraded to last fall's version. The program seemed to suck a lot of resources and I didn't find the experience all that great.

One of my E51's is constantly searching for a wi-fi signal, which drains the battery faster. I've tried turning this off in multiple areas, but am obviously missing something.

Also
PC suite tells me that I should update my phone's software, but when I try online, it errors every time. I took them to the Nokia Service Centre in Bangkok and they wanted to charge me to update them, as they are both out of warranty.

Firmware for E71 on Rogers Canada

First of all, thanks for starting this thread!

I have an E71 purchased and operating through Roger's provider in Ontario, Canada.

My question is: What can I do to get the latest firmware release when the nokia PC Suite software tells me that 100.07.76 is the latest version available to me? Do you know if Nokia plans to give Rogers the latest firmware?

Thanks!

E51 and OMA

Thanks for starting this thread - here's my question.....

I have an E51, which is a great phone, with one problem for me.... The Nokia implementation of OMA will not allow a calendar sync further forward than 30 days. For me, this is a real PITA as I only have the E51 as a diary and it's no good when I get a request for a date further out than one month.

Is there any firmware upgarde likely in the future, or am I stuck with this?

2.5mm jack problems

I have a Nokia 5610 Expressmusic. I try and try, but cannot seem to get the ability to listen to stereo music, much less be able to also answer calls.

I have bought several adapters and headsets with no success.

I would really like to use a standard set of earphones that I like.

Is there a compatible device that has the mic, a button to answer calls etc, and will allow me to plug in my STEREO earphones with a std 3.5mm jack.

I'm about to resort to wire splicing and black electrical tape! (or a new phone)

Please help me,
Jensfan

The Nokia AD-44 does what you want, and will let you control the music playback too.

Flashing a Phone (N97)

Hi cressers,

I'm likely to purchase a N97 in the coming days, but the only ones I can find are grey imports (with no network specific firmware) or local versions with network specific firmware.

What I really want is a local version (AU/NZ) with no network specific firmware. Therefore, I'm considering flashing the phone when I get it. I've never done this before, so would appreciate some advice (no raincoat jokes, please). I've updated firmware on my N95 with network specific firmware before though.

I've read a bit about it on the web, and the process as I understand it is:

- Change the product code to a local non-network specific one (not simple)
- Update the firmware

I understand I'll void my warranty and I'll run the risk of bricking the phone.

Any pointers and hints you can provide? Any other risks I should be aware of?

Thanks.

Sorry,been on holiday

The first thing to do is un-install pc suite and download the latest version, which is now OVI suite. This includes the SW updater, as well as a lot of newer features.

Then try again. It can be a bit tricky sometimes, but it should work fine.

What errors do you get?

Hi - firmware updates with operator specific SW are decided, rather unsuprisingly, by the operator rather than the manufacturer. Typically the number of releases is kept low, and many fixes are rolled into one, as well as new features etc.

If you want the official release, contact rogers and see if they have one coming.

You could also have a look on e71blog and see if there is anything about changing the NAM variant code, but this would void the warranty and so I could no recommend that....

Hi - what are you using to set this? 30days in the past and 60 in the future is supported, and so I am not sure.
Where are you specifying the settings?

AD-54 should do the trick.

Hi - clearly changing the product code voids the warranty, and you mention this.

Flashing the SW is not usually a troublesome process, but things can go wrong. For example, there is always the risk that the original product version may have different HW than another product code, and so while a simple product code change seems easy there is the risk something can go wrong. This is unlikely, but feasible.

If something did go wrong, you may be liable for the costs of repair.

If you are aware of this, then go for it - there are no real tips other than ensure you have the latest SW installed on the PC and follow the instructions to the letter.

./Calendar/Events?/dr(-30,60) in the Remote Database. Works fine on my old Sony P900 with the same server (even -30,180).

With the E51 I get "Unable to open database" error when trying to synch.

./Calendar is all that works, but then I'm tied to the server defaults of 0,30

It looks like I'm going to have to get an ipod touch just for my calendar!
