Two different concepts..... not sure they compare.

Hi. I have a question for the N97 - previous iPhone owner guy. Now that you own a N97 how has been people reactions in terms of aesthetical appearance. Do they like the looks of the N97 better or they miss the iPhone?

My personal view is I think I prefer how it looks to the iphone, however, at the moment for the ability to change the device through Apps, at the moment the iphone has it. I love the live home screen, I really think that sets them apart.

I am a little frustrated at the limited number of home screen widgets available for the N97. I think as the s60 v5 gets more phones, and more the potential home screen widget customers increases, so should the number of widgets.

Does anyone know of any good ones?

Also, font size of the favorite phone contacts is too small...

Any other FTers have this phone..?

Mine should be delivered in about an hour. Can't wait to try it out. I have a friend who is a Nokia trainer, so should be able to get good tips.

My only concern, thus far, is surfing. I was playing with a friend's iPhone last night, and it seemed easier to navigate from site to site. And the screen appears to be bigger, though resolution is lower.

As I plan on using it mainly to make calls, and to access information on the web, ease of browsing is a major issue for me.

In any case, no point in saying much more until I start using the n97!

Will be back with my impressions/questions soon.

Nokia N97

I have the N97, have used it now for about 3 weeks:
after upgrading to the new firmware (v11) it is working quite nicely, no crashes, no hanging during operation. It has completely supplanted my iPhone 3G.
I would suggest removing the installed apps, as many of them reside in the C drive (the limited phone memory) and you can reinstall them from the Ovi store. With them removed you get much better multitasking and the system runs more cleanly.
I'd advise buying at least one spare battery, as I find that I only get about 8 hours of battery life with multiple apps running, making phone calls and sending email/text messages.

I fixed this by hard resetting the phone (*#7370#), this factory restores the C drive memory. I then re-downloaded MfE and I now have seamless calendar and email syncing.
Cheers

Depends on how much you have on the phone.
I personally went to Office>File Manager>Mass Memory and moved my songs, photos, videos and contacts to my MicroSD card. I also downloaded all my newly installed apps into my microSD so that I could easily get everything reinstalled in about 60 minutes.
Buena suerte

...impressions from my first international trip...very confusing to shut off data/voice roaming. Also, very difficult to make Wifi network as my first priority for data services and carrier as my 2nd (does that make sense?). I am afraid to see my first bill, as I can't always tell which I am on. Which there were a profile like "phone only" mode.

Not sure if iPhone is easier, but 5 minutes using one and I found it much easier to shut off roaming services.

And SO many menus...But I love the screen and if I can get used to Symbian, I may get to like this phone.
