HP Printer Installation - Screen Resolution Problem
I just bought a HP Photosmart C4500 Printer/Scanner and tried to install it on my s10e Lenovo Netbook.
However the following error popped up:
The screen resolution on this computer is set below the mininmum required screen resolution for this software. The installation cannot continue until this is resolved.
Current Setting: 1024 X 576
minimum: 800X600
Recommended: 800X600
Just wondering are there any way to get around this problem? I can't seem to change the resolution as it is locked?

I hate HP printer software.
The easy solution is to plug in an external monitor.
The slightly more complicated approach is to extract just the driver files and install them using Windows rather than the cruddy HP installer. But that will get you only the printer, not the scanner component.

Thanks!
It did work by just connecting to an ext monitor (Luckily my LOEWE LCD TV has a VGA outport and I just purchased a cable last week).
Why would HP put such a stupid check in the setup is beyond me.
I am now setting up the WIFI connection with the printer.

I can think of two reasons. One is that there is a dialog in the application or the setup that is too tall and won't fit on a screen smaller than 600 pixels tall. The other is that they are using 800x600 as a basis for determining if the computer is new enough to run the app. Neither are good reasons, though the first is much better than the second.

I'm sorry I don't have the solution for you but as a long time HP customer, I do have a suggestion. Have you tried calling HP tech support? If you call during the day and get the people in Canada, they have generally been great with solving problems for me (as opposed to their offshore counterparts).

Isn't exactly something you'd be likely to stumble upon. Thanks!EDIT: Bad suggestion from me - Don't try this one:
Another suggestion is to right click on the install package, click the compatibility tab, then choose to run in 640x480 mode.

Wouldn't that make it still choke as the app would "detect" a resolution of 640x480, which is definitely below the recommended and trigger the warning again?
