you can do that, but if you cancel within 30 days you need to return the iphone. after 30 days you can keep it, so the minimum cost is $199/$299 + 70/mo (lowest priced plan) for two months + $175.

My reseller was quoting $725 for purchase of unlocked 3G, immediately now. Assuming it costs him up to $500, he's got about $225 for profit, etc.
Question still remains - can it be unlocked and work properly on third party carrier?
