Yeah, and that always worked with FF2, but with FF3, there is a list of URLs that all seem to be on my bookmarks list. Apparently, there is an add-on (rated 5 stars) that returns you to the old FF2 toolbar.

But is this any way to be a leader in the browser wars? On a family shared computer, why should my spouse or kids be able to see what sites I have been visiting a week or two ahead of Xmas, for example? Granted, those URLs apparently all have to be on my Bookmarks list anyway.

I hardly click on bookmarks anymore. CTRL-L to get to the location bar, then start typing and your bookmark will show up.

Have a look at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showt...48#post9897948 and some of the following posts on this feature.

Meh. This release gets a C- from me. After installation, I can't see images through google search, just the url. The drop down address bar is too busy, too many letters. Deleted 1/2 my bookmarks.

Still mighty fast.

You could give your family members their own accounts on the computer, then everything is separate. Each person would manage their own bookmarks, documents, etc., and they can't modify another person's files without the proper authorization. Make sure the others don't get "Computer Administrator" privilege!

This add-on just solved the problem of the impossible to erase URLs... but I still have to say that the developers missed the boat in version #3 in this regard!

Not sure why you call it "impossible to erase URLs" when in fact these are just your bookmarks?

This is driving me crazy....

EVERY page I go to now in FF on this bulletin board and another one, as well as other websites, re-loads all the graphics from the server instead of caching them.

E.g., when the page comes up, all the little icons that are a part of the bulletin board are all text at first , and then you can watch them become "graphical" as the graphics load from the server.

I've re-started FF in safe mode and that didn't fix it. I'm running the latest update.

It's annoying. And on those occasions when my internet connection is slower than I would wish, it really shows down my FT experience.

Is there some dumb thing I should or should be doing, or an option somewhere, or ???

cblaisd, try this:

1. In a URL type about:config and press Enter

2. Search for browser.cache.disk.enable - ensure it is set to yes. Ditto for browser.cache.memory.enable and network.http.use-cache.

3. Search for browser.cache.disk.capacity - set it to the size you wish the cache to be.

4. Search for broswer.cache.check_doc_frequency - ensure it is 3.

5. Search for browser.cache.disk.parent_directory - it probably doesn't exist. Create it and set it to where you want the cache to go - "e.g. D:\Firefox Cache". It doesn't matter if the directory doesn't exist already

6. Close ALL Firefox windows

7. Reload Firefox, and navigate away. The first time it will hopefully cache - confirm by looking for files in, for e.g., D:\Firefox Cache.

8. If it doesn't, disable ALL add-ons/extensions, restart Firefox, and try again.

Thank you. Files are clearly being cached in the directory I set up.

I will let you know if this fixes the problem.

Thanks again!

In the navigation toolbar when I try to type for example "s" the old version would offer a rather uncluttered list of recently visited sites that start with "s": spg, seatguru etc.

This version dilutes the list with a bunch of junk (that i assume has "s" in a keyword) such as "australian Swimmer gets towed by a Shark" "ITA Software" "returnS" etc

Is there any way to disable this "smart" browsing function?

Reviewed your suggested solution, thanks.

Unfortunately as mentioned by others it still doesn't work as FF2. In my example described earlier typing "s" now brings spg and ITA Software but no seatguru...
Interestingly spg comes up when i type "h" - what's the logic there???

VERY annoying...
