HDMI cables?

It's time. My Pioneer plasma is due to be installed in a week or so and I will connect two sources (LG BH100 BD/HD DVD combo player, no-name 250Gb DVR/DVD recorder) to the screen.

I think I need 1.5m HDMI cables and consensus on local forums is that decent quality HDMI cables need not cost a fortune.

Some peoploe are selling the cables for local delivery but intriguingly, dealextreme.com has received lots of praise for the quality of its cables. The prices are the lowest I've seen.

Most importantly, delivery worldwide is free, so it is possible to buy one or two cables and spend less than $20.

Have you ordered cables from this HK vendor and do you consider what you bought to be acceptable quality, for a short HDMI cable?

Thanks!
(FYI I'm looking at this HDMI 1.3a cable from DX ($9.89, free w/wide shipping))

I've tried cheap & expensive HDMI cables and for short runs (< 3m or so) and have yet to see a difference.

Try looking at www.monoprice.com -- don't know if they'll beat your deal but they have very good prices on many cables and are lightning fast at shipping although I don't know their international shipping rates.

x2 on monoprice.

An hdmi cable is an hdmi cable. Expensive ones are nothing more than marketing. Don't let anyone tell you different.

Thanks for this - maybe I should get a wall bracket, too.
Any recommendations for that? Was thinking a flat bracket would suffice but I'm open to comments.

Monoprice mentions USPS Intl shipping but it may be to Canada only. I'll investigate the forum for an answer. 3 HDMI cables for under $10, wow. However the shipping may not make it worthwhile.

If you need someone to forward it on you let me know, though you may be quicker off with someone in CA who is closer to Monoprice.

These cables are unbelievable low-priced. Is this all that is needed - or are there benefits to spending more?

Product ID: 4030
HDMI 1.3a CL2 Rated (In-Wall Installation) Cable (24AWG) w/ Net Jacket - 3ft (Gold Plated Connectors) - WHITE

Basic plasma tilting wallmount:
Product ID: 2852

Thank you for any comments on this vendor and your opinion on the merits of various cables. I'll likely get one longer HDMI cable too, to be safe.

I wouldn't go too cheap on the wall mount. You need something with great quality AND something that is easy to access when it is mounted, or you'll never be able to get at your cables.

Whenever the word cable comes up, the next word should be monoprice. It's a great place for cables.

I say get the cheap ones, if you are happy with the results, don't worry about spending such more.

I've often noticed monoprice has three different price "levels" of cables. I've bought the cheapest and the mid-grade of component and audio cables, and couldn't tell the difference in signal (not that I would have expected to be able to distinguish).

Their prices are so low that you can reward yourself with the mid-grade stuff and still feel like you got a screaming deal all in. I'm normally annoyed to have to pay sales tax living in the same state as the seller, but with monoprice I don't care. What really gets me is when I go into a place like Best Buy, and see them retailing a cable for $30 that monoprice sells for $7!

Thank you for the great feedback. I have requested confirmation that intl. delivery (past Canada) is possible and hope for a positive reply. The basic wall mount with tilt looks okay.

Try Costco or BJ's. I bought mine there and I believe saved close to 50% compared to CC and BB.

-> Oops, just saw your location. Not sure if you have these there, anyway you get the idea.

If monoprice ships to you, you can't go wrong w/ them. I used them for several HDMI cables and a flat wall mount and everything is excellent. These wall mounts are the exact ones you'd see in Best Buy for 6x the cost.

I agree with all the other recommendations on monoprice if they can ship to you. Their cables are excellent and no reason to pay more really.

In Australia Jaycar do good quality cables at reasonable prices.

Edited to add:

I bought this Wall mount bracket from this seller on eBay and found it to be very good quality and easy to install my 45" 1,080p Sharp LCD screen.
