Has anyone else been able to recently load an XROST PIN code into the site for reloading balances?

If so, please PM me.

Thanks in advance.

I think allofmp3 does a remarkably good job of explaining the law and the debate. Sure it is slanted in its favor, but they do explain the controversy and make it clear that no promises are made about its legality in other countries. There are arguments that it is legal for personal use in the US, but the RIAA strongly disagrees with these arguments and the issue has not been definitvely been addressed by a US court.

I think in most countries you are safe. In the US, I'd be a little worried.

a US court wouldn't have much weight over a Russian company.. Thats the big thing here. Its legal in russia. They were investigated by russian authorities, and the case was dropped. Importing something that is a copyright/trademark infraction for personal use is legal, per US code. They show the law on their site now..

The RIAA is upset you can import it without leaving your house..

LOL

Actually better way to look at it is:
1) Offering you music downloads cheaper and more comprehensive than Itune and DRM free
2) Offering you music easier to find and more reliable sound quality than trawling a million file sharing sites - oh and faster download

All of which underlines the stupidity and greed of the record companies ,since it is well within their capability to provide this in the first place!

There are rumors that the XROST link is removed for those logging in from US-based IP addresses. What's odd is that I can still see the XROST link, but my friend can't--and we're both on the same ISP!

Nonetheless, after some Google'ing, someone posted the link to redeem XROST PIN codes.

https://ssl.allofmp3.com/pays/paymen...tep2&via=xrost

I sent that to my friend, and he was able to refill his balance.

Record Labels Sue Web Site Operator

Surprised this hasn't been posted...

Several major record labels sued the operator of the Russian music Web site AllofMP3.com on Wednesday, claiming the company has been profiting by selling copies of music without their permission.

The lawsuit was filed in federal court in New York against Moscow-based Mediaservices, which owns AllofMP3 and another music site, allTunes.com.

A slate of major record labels, including Arista Records LLC, Warner Bros. Records Inc., Capitol Records Inc. and UMG Recordings Inc., are behind the lawsuit.

The labels claim Mediaservices' sites sell millions of songs by their artists without paying them "a dime" for the right to do so.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...122001623.html

I heard a story on the news that the lawsuit was in the neighborhood of $1.65 TRILLION dollars, but that seems to be a bit inflated.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has denied claims that it is seeking $1.6 trillion in damages from a Russian online music store.

A press officer for the RIAA said that the organisation had not seen the media reports and had not made any official announcement.

"It is possible that the figure has been extrapolated from the number of tracks," the RIAA spokesman said.

"The $15,000 per track is laid down in US copyright law and is not something we have selected. It is possible that people are just doing the math."

Haha... Good luck getting that money...

Suing a non-US based company in a US court will do alot of good. Really a non-issue. They had the russian government investigate them, and they were found to be in compliance with Russian laws so the investigation was dropped.

The RIAA is notorious for exaggerating everything.

The RIAA is no better than the mafia. I have no problem going around them to get my music.

Any new news on the AllofMP3.com front?

I was hoping to read their blog for some updates but can't... I think my ISP (Earthlink DSL) is blocking the site. Anyone else in the US an Earthlink subscriber and unable to get to the site?
