Norton Live update - problem
Im getting this error message when executing the Norton Live Update feature:
" LiveUpdate could not determine if there is an update for this product because the update list for this product is corrupted. "
Any ideas what this is....? Thanks.

Do you have several Symantec products from different generations installed on your computer? I find the newer Live Update module often fails to work with older Symantec programs (whose own Live Update module is overwritten when installing a new Symantec product).
If the above link doesn't solve your problems, completely uninstall your Symantec programs (including any registry entries, plus a manual delete of leftover Symantec folders after the auto-uninstall), and do a clean install, it works all the time.

This was something recommended in one of the support pathways at Symantec's web site. It's probably worth a shot . . . it doesn't appear to hurt anything.

Wow. You guys are the best. I've been having the same problem on my laptop with Norton. I followed the PorkRind directions andjust deleted all 10-15 files/folders in the download folder and now Norton works fine!
Thanks, everyone

I'd this problem a few months ago with Nortons Systemworks 2003 (with Norton's Personal Firewall). After going to Symantec's site and following through its instructions, the problem went away ... until a few weeks later when it came back.
I don't know how it happens... Now, I just have Autoupdate turned off and update it manually.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...

While we are on this Norton SW situation, I have noticed a problem since installing the latest version. I use Outlook 2003 for my email, and it is extremely slow downloading mail and even slower opening up a window when I go to send a new message. I didn't have this problem with Outlook XP. Has anyone else run into this situation? Is Norton or Outlook the problem?
