i just wish ATT/Moto could work out some of these bugs -- i can't call AA or US Airways toll free numbers, for example...

What version of the MPx200 software are you running? I got a non-at&t supported firmware off the net (BEN6-0630-012.img - 12/3/2003) and am having no issues.

Installing it did remove all the at&t customization, but I'm using a tmobile sim, so that didn't matter to me.

Let me know if you want it and I'll email it to you.

And THAT is why I don't like the Smartphone platform...

You want to call toll-free numbers? Let me send you a super secret firmware image that will erase the current settings in your phone

Does the mpx200 use an Intel processor? I'd love to get a firmware version from ANY phone that would transform my Mitac Mio into something more than a constantly-rebooting, error-messaging, POS paperweight.

MS smartphone? NEVER EVER EVER again.

Sadly the firmwares also contain the radio firmware, external connectors, display drivers etc... so a firmware from motorola won't work on any other phone...

Let's be fair, it is an AT&T issue, not a Moto/MS one. They came out with the firmware and released it in a timely manner, its AT&T (shockingly!) that dragging their feet on releasing it (or porting their customizations to it).

Don't let the facts get in the way of my hatred of the MS Smartphone platform

This one looks cool; supposedly going to be launched in November, but who knows... could be pushed back until next year. The way Nextel is, it will be launched about a year too late:

But the good thing about being a REAL man is that a REAL man also skips that pile of papers called the MANUAL, so you don't know you are missing all these features.

If it bleeps and flashes then you have got it to do 100% of what it needs to do for a real man.
