Advise on new 17" monitor
I want to add a new monitor to connect to my laptop. I'm looking for a 17" flat screen, but most seem to be $450..+. A buddy recently found this one for about $350.00 from PC Mall.

Any comments on either the monitor or PCMall?

While searching I found this one:

Decent brand, good store AND a built in TV Tuner for just $399

Just another OEM putting its name on a TFT. Good contrast, average brightness and response time, poor viewing angles, average power consumption, no DVI input: the viewing angles denotes a low-end product.
Most important is probably whether this monitor has a 3 year onsite warranty, and whether the company will be around during those next 3 years. After 3 TFT failures in the past 4 years, I am not taking any chances with warranties.

I am not sure how much they are right now, but I am using IBM T750 and LOVING it. I used for nearly a year and never had a problem.
Also, beware of Cornea-brand monitors. That's the one I bought before IBM and it started having problems on the third day.

I recently purchased a 17 Samsung based solely on PC Magazines recommedation. It can't compare it with much else since I didn't shop, but it nice. Better than my 17 inch Dell at the office.
It cost about $450 including shipping.
