2 Factor Authentication Code while using eSIM

I bought an Airalo eSIM to use in Europe. However, the 2 Factor Authentication code does not seem to come through. I am using an iphone with Verizon service which I turned off while using eSIM. I would appreciate if someone can give me the settings so I can receive the 2 Factor authentication code without incurring any charges.

Does it display the number the code is sent to? Confirm it has your country code as a prefix. For US numbers it is +1, area code, phone number. You may be able to edit it as profile option on the Airalo app.

If your Back in the US you may want to get a google voice number. It works to verify some of the banks. I love Airolo by the way. On one of my accounts texts did not work but they offered a callback that worked. Some friends use text.me app I think it maybe free. I never used it myself.
Google voice has cheap cost if you can.t make wifi calls.
Airolo is data only. It will work with google voice/ majicjack. $50 bucks a year.
Good luck.

Who is the sender of the 2 factor authentication? Some have more restrictions & limitations than others.

i have had trouble with Citi using Google Voice for verification but not a US based prepaid over Wifi aka IMS using my iPhone.

I need 2 FA for everything it seems like. Some like Avis will give option to send code via email but others say SMS texts only.

Seems like Airalo is not on the approved 2 factor authentication list.

Does your Verizon plan support WiFi calling? Your iPhone can be configured for IMS to avoid international roaming using the Airalo data to complete the WiFi call. I received a Chase fraud alert in Munich using IMS and was able to respond by text.

Several MVNO support WiFi calling with cheap plans and no geo location restriction for WiFi calling.

Unless you're using the Czech O2 SIM that Airalo resells, Airalo eSIMs don't have a phone number at all. (And the O2 plan would have a Czech phone number, which probably won't work to get American 2FA texts)

If you want to avoid paying for a day of roaming, you need to use either wifi calling or IMS with your Verizon plan to get the SMS code, which is presumably being sent to your usual Verizon number.

Airalo eSIMs are normally data-only, i.e., they do not have a phone number at which to receive an SMS. If you are expecting to receive the SMS sent to your Verizon number through iMessage because the iPhone allows that (iMessage works over data / wifi) then the Verizon phone service should not be suspended. If you have turned off the Verizon service, I'm not sure you can expect to still receive SMS / iMessage at your Verizon number either. I may be missing something here, but it sounds like you do not have SMS functionality from either Airalo or Verizon at the moment and so can't expect to receive any SMS at all.

I have turned off Verizon but not wifi calling. My friends who use Iphones are able to text me with no problems. Just cannot receive SMS texts. Will sort it out with Verizon when I get home. I am on a cruise and have wifi turned on constantly. I use airalo when on shore

Your friends are sending iMessages using Apple servers instead of Verizon servers. The blue vs green appearance in messages is the giveaway.

To use SMS, Verizon should be turned on and data roaming turned off. You are attempting to send/receive SMS over WiFi. I use AT&T which has slightly different configuration options for cellular. Maybe a Verizon user can add some input.

Switch your messaging app to Google Messages. It works over Wi-Fi and cellular data.

You need to leave the Verizon line active to receive SMS to it.

You can also download the Verizon Messages+ app which will let you get your Verizon SMS and phone calls over wifi on another device (or on your phone). But to set it up you need to receive an SMS from Verizon..
