Following is an email message from my TMO Biz rep:

"T-Mobile just announced Simple Global with unlimited international messaging and 2G data for free in over 100 countries (that covers 95% of our international traffic). The voice roaming is a flat rate of $.20 each in all of those countries. This can save you thousands on roaming. However, this free and included feature is only available on our new Simple Choice plans, but they are better than the old ones. There are options for additional 4G data overseas.

The new Simple Choice plans are:

$40 unlimited voice minutes
$35 600 minutes
$30 300 minutes
$25 100 minutes

All plans include unlimited messaging and unlimited 2G data (with 500MB of 4G data). Hotspot/tethering is also included. Lines on BES has a $5 premium. You can stack all of them except the unlimited... meaning you can pool voice minutes and share among numbers in your account.

If you need more 4G data you can have 2.5 GB for $10 (smartphone) or $15 (BES) or 4.5 GB for $20 (smartphone) or $25 (BES). Hotspot/tethering is also included. Or we have unlimited 4G data for smartphone use with 2.5GB of hotspot for $20/$25. The same unlimited 4G data with 4.5GB of hotspot is $10 more and $20 more with 6.5 GB. These options would be mostly for iPhones, Android, and BB10 as they use more data.

Unlimited messaging is included in these plans both domestic and internationally. "

My bill will now get lower... on top of the Corporate discount through my employer.

If anyone needs a hook-up to enjoy corporate pricing, just PM me.

I have the $30 prepaid "walmart" plan with unlimited text and data (5gb @4G) and 100 min.
With the pricing you posted I could get the same plan but unlimited 4G for $45 a month and global data?

Incorrect. Wifi calls, aka UMA, is charged to your bucket of minutes. Obviously, if you are on anunlimited plan, it's academic.

Sorry, but this is also incorrect. We used to have the 1000-minute Family Value Plan. Mrs. Swede spends close to 3000 minute per month on WiFi Calling. We only use about 45 minutes (combined) out of the 1000-minute bucket. This also includes when using WiFi Calling overseas.

Fair warning, if you're not migrated on the Simple Choice Value Plan by next month, you will be receiving a letter from T-Mobile...

I stand corrected, just spoke with TMO CS and she advised they made the change whereby all wifi calling is now free and not charged against bucket of minutes.

She wasn't able to verify when the change made....since we've been on unlimited calling plan since late last year, didn't note the change in their policy. So even more reason to reconsider using TMO, LOL.

My apologies....

It's been at least two years, maybe closer to three.

The $0.20/text outgoing rate was a bit of a surprise, and a bit disappointing.

I'm was more confused: it appears text is free via network to the 100+ countries but is not free via wifi...or am I reading it incorrectly?

You are correct. When you are on WiFi Calling, you are essentially establishing a VOIP connection back to the US. When you call or text over WiFi, your message goes from where you are in the world, back to the US, then back overseas. This will incur a $0.20/min or $0.20/text charge.

I have removed the image posted. I think it's incorrect.

Incoming calls and texts are free no matter where you are in the world. That is pretty sweet. (Although not sure if that includes cell towers on cruise ships that T-Mobile has a roaming agreement with.)

No matter where you are in the world, you can call and text back to the US for no charge. That is pretty sweet, too.

Can I just get an unlocked phone, buy a one month contract with tmobile, and then hop over to Germany and China for 3 weeks?

Sure. At s;)me point they are likely to become unhappy that most of your usage is outside of the USA but by that point you'll likely be done with them.

I am afraid that this will happen more often than not, and T-mobile will back off from 3.0. You can't offer a service that could potentially make you lose money (they pay for the data roaming even if they pay 1 cent/MB.) when people can leave you, and you don't make it back from other revenue streams.

I have a feeling that this clause of touching a USA tower every 6 weeks, will not be strictly enforced, it's just to shake off foreigners.

You can't use 500 MB. of 2G data even if you want to. Somebody mentioned that even though T-mobile says the speed will be 128KBPS it will be more in the range of 50-60 kbps.

So I wouldn't worry about it.

Just dropped my grandfathered VZW plan for this. There are some gaps in the list of countries covered, but I can live with it. The substantial cost savings vs. what I was paying at VZW makes it worth it to me to deal with the hassle of getting a SIM card in those countries.

2G is fine for e-mail, basic google maps, etc.

I just want to clarify this because it is hard to accept. You have free incoming in all 100 covered countries? I read it, but have a hard time swallowing it.
